01 M/C Boss Seat Install

I have a Boss seat that I wanted to install on my 01 MC 800. I just found out that the gas tank and the seat plate are all 1 piece. How do you install an aftermarket seat on here? Do you need to pull the cover off then cut the seat base plate?

Just cut it.

You will need to cut the back of the tank off or purchase a new tank or find a used one. New tank is $175 shipped. Need to know weather its EFI ir carbed. Would help if these dealers for BOSS were up to speed on this installation. My heat exchanger tubes also come up into the seat so have to cut into my brand new seat. Pissed.
