pull cord

So I have a 03 pro-x 800. Just got done replacing the snapped recoil rope. I went to start it, and the first couple pulls were fine, but when it started it wouldn't go back in the housing. I think it's something with the spring not a 100% sure. Also is there anyway else to get into the housing...

I am replacing my waterpump belt and in the process thought I would change my Pull cord since it was looking a bit rough! When I pulled the pull cord assembly apart eveything came apart but now I can't seem to get it back together! Admittedly I havn't tried real hard either. Is there a trick to...
