I am pleased to report that Cooke City received a ton of snow over the weekend. And for anyone interested the beartooth hwy between 296 and Cooke City is now impassible. They are plowing down hwy 212 to the west from 296 a few miles to a parking lot, after that it’s unplowed. These are from Sat 11/11, and it was DEEP!

read the bearclaw report, he updates every day. Also checkout MTavalanche.com they do the report every day now and usually has some pretty meaningful info regarding snowpack and weather and obviously good info to be fresh on as well.

any updated reports? we have never been to cooke before. is it best to ride sleds in from the east or make the extra drive in the truck to town. we are coming from WI.

It is really up to you. If you can deal with not having your truck and trailer with you, it is quicker to drive to parking lot and ride in.

We had 2 crews a week ago at Cooke. One drove to town the other to the pilot creek parking lot. We left town at the same time. The crew that rode to parking lot was about 1.5hrs ahead of the crew that went through the park - we were going back to MN

Thanks guys. Any preferred guides out of Cooke?

Might be worth while starting a separate post; saying when going and how many in your group and seeing if anyone will let you tag along.

Or...there has to be some trail maps at the local buinesses?
