Just got back from an epic trip to West Yellowstone and Alpine, Wy.
On the second day of riding in West, I heard I rattling noise coming from the recoil when the motor was running-- not good. Started to head back to the truck when the motor quit running, uh oh.
Luckily, I was with a good size group of guys from Bend, Or. Including the two owners of Happy Face PerforMance Products The reason I mention Happy Face is because we had to use two ProRMKs to pull my not running Pro back to the truck-- about fifteen miles. Dave and Sam pulled me up some good size hills in deep snow with their HF rear bumpers. Hopefully someone will post up the video of me getting jerked up the hill by two sleds-- no way the stock bumpers would have held up to the abuse.
When I got back to town-- I pulled the recoil apart to see that a casting had failed and allowed the bolt, springs, and dog to bounce around in there which took out the stator and flywheel. Polaris West loaned me the flywheel puller--thank you. Problem was we were leaving West and heading to Alpine, WY.
On the drive down I called PMS Polaris in Ashton since we were driving right by there. I was half expecting the typical "we don't have time, warranty claims need to be approved, blah, blah, blah...."
That was not the response I got. When I called I talked to Riley and he said to bring it in and they would take a look. I parked the truck and walked in with my fragged stator, flywheel, and recoil. After looking at the parts, Riley grabbed the service manager, Errin Vollmer, and explained my situation. Errin looked up my vin# confirmed the sled was under warranty and started working on a solution to get me back on the snow.
I brought my sled in around 12:30pm and it was ready to go before close of business--THE SAME DAY.
PMS Polaris in Ashton Idaho is run like a snowmobile dealership should be run. The employees understand that snowmobiling is dependent on Mother Nature and that we were on vacation. I didn't buy my sled from them, I had never set foot in their dealership before. That didn't matter. They were snowmobilers helping a snowmobiler.
Their attitude from the time I called to the time I left was "how can we help?".
No BS about calling for authorizations, or waiting on an answer from Polaris, they were just focused on getting me going again.
Thanks again to Riley and Errin of PMS Polaris in Ashton, Idaho.
You guys made it possible for Val and I to enjoy five more days of pow riding in Wyoming!
