Sell me on a sled deck

Gonna get 1 in a few months and have been trying to do my homework on as to which deck to get. Be nice to get some imput. Photos or decks would be nice 2 :)

I have a 159" track on the sled and the quad has a nasty offset.

thx in advance

I love my marathon, very well made, although they are spendy but they work slick IMO. Ive had sleds, quads and dirt bikes on my deck with no issues. Also I like the stout headache rack. Makes a guy breathe a little easier if you load too fast:face-icon-small-win.

I have been looking at one of these - is there anyone in MN where you can rent one first to try it?

^^^ I'd love to try before I buy! I've been thinking about it for a few years, but am not sold yet.

Our decks are about as close to a Marathon as you can get with out being a Marathon, they are built here in the US and we think they are built better. We use thicker heavier materials and use more cross bracing that anyone else does. I have used about all of the decks out there and think this one is the strongest most secure one available and our price is $400 - $500 less than anything that compares in features and quality.

Our decks come standard with:

Polished Sides

LED lights

Under Deck Light

10 foot telescoping Ramp with Super Glide, ramp is easy to use and gives you the max length possible for short box pick ups.

1 Pair of Front Super Clamps (Best clamp system on the market)

Expandable sides

Nice heavy duty head ache rack

Will fit long or short box, very similar design to the Marathon in that the rear legs move from one position to the other.

The foot pads on the legs can be drilled and bolted direct to the pick bed (just like the marathon) or if you want to use chains and turn buckles that is your choice. Some guys do a combination of the two.

Our leg design also gives you maximum under deck storage, while also supporting the full weight of the sleds because the legs are directly under each sled, (when two are loaded, you can load one in the middle and the deck comes
with the Superclamp hook in the center)

Nearly everything is Tig welded, only minor parts are production welded with a Mig.

All materials are T-6061 Aluminum

Very nice decks from a very reputable Jet boat company, Custom Weld Jet boat dealer in Meridian ID. Bohnenkamp's Custom Weld Marine.

We have a pretty good web site www.customsledecks.com that has all the information you will need on it except the price and I will tell you right now they are $2995 retail, and we offer cash discounts and have an end of season special going on the last three decks we have built from last season.

Motomikey's - Silver Lake Manufacturing

By far the best decks we have used or seen are Silver Lake Manugacturing decks - Motomikey's! These are the offical deck of the Extreme Team Riders. The features of these decks are awesome. The construction / welding can't be beat, the bracing under the deck allows for lots of room for storage in the bed of the truck - after running this deck all winter and the 1000's of miles of harsh use we put them through they still look brand new.

I run the bobtail deck and love it. The 2 piece ramp (short box truck) works great and is easy to handle even for 1 guy. The deck is also fully lighted with running lights and is the lightest deck I have personally run.

Another in our group runs the model with the extendable sides and it is an amazing deck. When he isnt hauling his sled he just slides the sides in, they have worked flawless all winter - even with all the snow and ice on them - I have been very impressed!

Another note, Motomikey (Mike) is one of the best with customers, he treats people great, stands behind his products and has excellent prices. You won't find a better guy!

Give him a shout on here, he will be straight up with you and treat you right.

I shopped around before I got mine. I bought from Motomikey. His price was GREAT. It beat the others hands down. I wished I'd waited a few months until the expandable sides came out...but hey that's how it goes.

My next deck will be from Mike with expandable sides.

WELL made. LIGHT and easy to load by myself. 325lbs (?) without the ramp inside of it.

sky hi

i have a sky hi deck and i really like it.

the one advantage that i like about my ramps compared to the other ones, is that my ramps have a lip on the sides, that way my ski's can't go off either side of the ramp if i'm not lined up properly with the sled. the other ramps there is not lip, there fore you can easily miss and go off the side of the ramp.

that's my 2 cents worth. either way every sled deck has some draw back. the advantage is that you don't have to deal with a trailer, flat tires, turn arounds etc...if you go on a trip, you don't have to worry about parking a trailer to go out to diner ant etc....

if you do get a deck, you do need to get a super clamp for at least you. that way you don't have to climb up 2 tie down your sled, the angle can be a bit of a pain in the a$$ with out a super clamp.

the down fall of a deck is tht you have to drive all winter with it on your truck. also if your tired and have to unload it after your done for the day that can be tiring as well.

it is just a lot easier to deal with a deck than a trailer.

I had a sled deck and liked it but I sold it and put a flatbed on my truck. I like it 100 times better than the sled deck.....for everything.

Sled decks may become more and more popular as fuel goes up. It takes less to use one of them then pulling a trailer. Less weight, less drag etc.

The question I have to go along with this is, would a 1/2 ton with airbags installed be ok. I bet it would. You wouldn't be over the payload weight and the air bags would keep the thing from swaying too much due to the high center of gravity.

My 411 on the Decks!

I have went from a nice two place open drive on/off last year in december - january to a two place enclosed drive through the remainder of the winter to now selling both trailers and having a sled deck this spring!

Although I have yet to use my own in the winter I can tell you that an enclosed is nice to have everything loaded and ready whenever you want to hook up and go. but a sled deck is just as easy without dragging a damn trailer all over rough roads, one way roads, no turnarounds, cramped parking, etc.etc.etc.

The deck is basically load up the sled, throw the gear in the extra cab, (under the deck if you have a moto mikey as I do, great for using storage totes under neath) then your off. nothing to do but drive.

Just to tell you how easy loading is I have a 6" lift on my superduty with 35" tires and so my 8' ramp is pretty darn steep. first time i was a little unsure what to expect so I hit it hard. the next time I rolled my sled out on the dollys from the garage, put the skis at the bottom of the ramp and seriously putted right up it. My wife even loads now! Mikeys ramps are just setup right and you can basically cruise up them easy and even stop and take back off on them.

also one last selling point that has me hooked. I had to take my wife to the city for a wedding last weekend, I wanted to take my sled and do some mods with a buddy but usually hate hauling it around all weekend in the city with traffic, parking, etc. with the deck I threw it on and drove the truck around all last weekend with no worries or problems. That sold me. Parked at walmart, etc.....

SOLD FOREVER NOW! This wouldn't have happended with a trailer of any kind for the weekend! unhook and worry about some stealing it etc...

You'll love it and loading a moto mikey deck, and sleds on it is super easy and any one can do it. Don't buy anything but a marathon or moto mikey PERIOD! mikey is just as good and save you some serious cash! Also stands by everything from tie down chains to welds, to what ever he puts on the deck!

dont go into B.C with a 1/2 ton and a sled deck. damn hippies!

one of the main reasons i like a deck is because this time of the yr there isnt that many good places to park for a 4place.

I see that you are tossing around the idea of getting a sled/quad deck.

I sell the Marathon deck in Alberta and the quality of the deck is second to none! LED lights, routered, sealed edges on the plywood, 2" tublar headache rack and solid construction makes this deck dependable and safe to own. Marathon has been making aluminum decks longer than anyone and they know what it takes to make one that works! Other decks have issues with welds cracking and other issues. Marathon has learned with the past 13 years of experience what it takes to build the strongest deck on the market! They also stand behind their product!

No more trailers, brakes, tires, bearings, insurance, registration, hitches to worry about. You can go through the drive thrus at ease and parking at hotels / restaurants is a breeze. At the hill, again parking is simple and quick. I have found that my riding season is extended as well as I can go on the logging roads to get to the snow without having to worry about a trailer to try and turn around.

With Marathon's telescoping ramp (10' or 12'), and the superglides on the ramp loading / unloading is quick, safe and easy! For quading, you can also side load / unload.

Right now, I have the Marathon deck on sale at a reduced price for the start of summer!

Something brand new is Marathon's new extension. This is an extension for the 7' deck that makes it over 8' long for when you are hauling your long tracked sled around. It is easily removable and looks awesome! I can email you pics of the extension as I have yet to get them on my site.

Check out my site at www.throttleup.ca and if you have any questions, call me at 403 308 4446. Included in the price is two superclamps.

I don't mean to be long winded but the decks simply work and it is a great product! Thank you for your time.
