Shoveling
From the probe strike location, move downhill a couple steps (1.5 times the burial depth) so you are digging more horizontally to the base of the probe rather than digging down to it. This lets you scoop the snow away much easier and you can open a larger hole for recovery.
If there is more than one person available to shovel, have one person shovel toward the target, and the other shovelers move the first shovel's snow further out of the hole.
