Another Key Factor

Another key factor in student success is the factory-level partnerships, which include BRP, Polaris, Harley-Davidson and Stihl Power Equipment. These relationships allow students to access and utilize factory-level diagnostics software and tools that are otherwise only available to dealerships. These skills allow students to enter the fast-paced workforce and meet dealerships’ standards to excel.

The Powersports and Small Engine Repair Program diversified with a curriculum re-design in 2018. Courses now include Foundations of Safety and Tools, Dealership Operations, Equipment Maintenance and Light Repair, Fuel Systems: Diagnostics and Repair, Engine Management & Electrical Systems, Engine Theory: Diagnosis and Repair, Drivetrain and Chassis Components and Suspension and Performance Technology.

The program concludes with an eight-week internship at a local industry partner to get students involved and engaged with various dealership positions.

The Dealership Operations class is a new concept for CWI powersports education. It was constructed by Hampton to help fill a void in local industry front-end dealership operations, including parts, sales and service writing. Students will work through creating invoices, identifying parts, service writing techniques and customer service skills.

As dealership integration becomes more digital and web-based, students need skills to navigate dealership management software such as CDK Lightspeed EVO, which is the most widely used software nationally in the recreation segment.

The Dealership Operations class guides students through the ins and outs of DMS navigation and effective sales techniques relating to parts, service, and sales.

Classes run Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
