7. Price. Just so you can look at some hard numbers, the Cat M 6000 Alpha One is almost $2,700 less than the 800 Alpha One. The Pro-RMK is $1,700 less than its 800 counterpart. The Summit is $1,400 less than its counterpart. When you factor in that the 600s will likely last longer and require less maintenance, you really start to wonder why so many snowmobilers disregard their value as a mountain sled.
Now, if your ego keeps you from riding a snowmobile that you would put your wife or kids on, we understand. And if you rely solely on the ability of your right thumb to pinch a lever to be able to climb up a slope, we understand. And if you use the excuse “I’m just too big of a guy to ride a smaller sled,” we understand (although perhaps what you really need is a good diet to drop a few pounds).
But if you think that a 600 just isn’t a mountain sled, well there is little left we can say … except when we pull up next to you on our 600s to give your ski a tug when your 800 is stuck in the deep fluff. Then we’ll likely smile and say, “Just stay in my tracks and you should be okay.”
