Are there any chassis improvements over the 800?
We assume you’re asking what improvements have been made to the model year 2019 Pro RMK 800 compared to the 2018 Pro RMK (not from the 800 to the 850, which is a whole other discussion.)
The most significant change, albeit about the only one, for this year’s 800 sled—in all three track lengths: 155, 163 and 174 inches—is the new AXYS RMK React Front Suspension. With the use of the React front suspension, Polaris has changed the geometry of the sled in a big way. Case in point is the adjustable ski stance that goes from 39-40-41 inches in 2018 to 36-37-38 inches for 2019. Three inches narrower is a big change for sidehilling, powder carving and even trail riding. Think of all the riding situations you experience in one day in the mountains and how a narrower stance affects each one of those riding conditions.
The React has a sway bar and new forged A-arms along with forged spindles. What the 800 does not get that the new 850 does is the new, lighter (by 3 lbs.) SLS Shock Springs.
So we might be splitting hairs here, but components of the chassis—maybe not the skeleton of the sled itself—have been changed for model year 2019.
