1— Ski-Doo Summit X 850 165 2.5 or 3.0
This is my go-to snowmobile for most any snow and/or terrain conditions you find in the West. It may not be the lightest mountain sled but it rides light and is so easy to maneuver in off-camber situations, thanks mostly to a smooth powerband and the Gen4 platform with the PowderMax Light with FlexEdge track. They all work in concert to provide a superior mountain snowmobile that gives me confidence all over the mountain. And, thanks to SHOT, this Summit X is my sled of choice.
2—Ski-Doo Summit SP 850 165 2.5 or 3.0
The Summit SP doesn’t have the shock package the X does (KYB HPG vs. KYB HPG Plus) but has many of the same key features that used to be Summit X (spring-only) exclusives but have now trickled down to the SP models. That includes the same Rotax 850 E-Tec engine, Gen4 platform, PowderMax Light with FlexEdge track and more. I can be just as happy and confident on the SP as I can the Summit X. And you can get the SP with SHOT. Bonus.
