LinQ Removable Snow Flap
Now we turn our attention to the rear of the Freeride. We figured that with the 154-inch track, there would be times we would want to get maximum clearance for our track in deep snow conditions.
The LinQ Removable Snow Flap (#860201515) would allow us to quickly remove the snow flap in deep snow so it won’t create a drag while your track is trying to clear out the snow.
The process for this install requires you to drill out nine rivets (two to remove the taillight and seven to remove the snow flap). Then you secure the LinQ plate to the end of the tunnel with six torx screws. Then replace your taillight with two rivets.
Now, the scary part of the install requires you to cut your stock snow flap and attach the majority of it to a junction plate. (We always hate the commitment of altering a part beyond the point of going back.) But what you are doing is cutting off a couple of inches where it did mount to the tunnel and attaching it with four screws to the new mountain plate.
The final step is to install the two LinQ bases to the tunnel. Ski-Doo has pre-marked the tunnel where you need to drill the holes (two on each side) and then you bolt the base in place. The purpose of the base is to allow you to attach the snow flap to the tunnel during the times you want it removed from the rear of the sled and out of the way.
This process took about an hour to do (excluding the 30 minutes of double and triple checking the process before actually cutting the snow flap).
