Snow is SpectacularA couple of years ago I visited Togwotee on Thanksgiving weekend, as it was the only place we thought might have snow at that point in the year. We took a chance on some threads we saw on an Internet chat forum and when we arrived we were blessed with about three feet of fresh powder! There wasn't enough snow on the trails anywhere else to even unload a sled. So we know that Togwotee can get really good early snow.
While we used all our time at Togwotee snowmobiling, the resort also offers Cat-Skiing on Angle Mountain, a stone's throw from the lodge. A Snow Cat will take you to the mountain top and let you ski or snowboard down through the virgin terrain. The lodge offers a day package for $349 that includes unlimited runs, lunch, professional certified guides and the use of avalanche survival equipment.
The lodge also offers a full line of rental snowmobiles; including trail, 2-up touring and mountain sleds. So if bringing your own machine to Togwotee isn't an option, you can always fly into Jackson Hole, take advantage of Togwotee's airport shuttle pick-up, then rent sleds when you get to the lodge.
Folks looking for some hopping nightlife can take a shuttle to and from the lodge to Jackson Hole. That allows you to enjoy the nightlife there without the worry of driving home.
Togwotee really has everything you need for a snowmobile getaway and has the perfect amount of amenities that make it comfortable while still giving the feeling that you're in the wilderness. All the ingredients are there for epic mountain riding and if you are looking for crazy-deep powder the best months to visit are January and February. But anytime the lodge is open, from the end of November until the first of May, you are sure to have enough snow for a great ride. More info: www.togwoteelodge.com
