3. The first sled I ever bought with my own money was the legendary 1990 Polaris Indy 500 SKS. Man was that thing a bad boy! Twin pipes, and a 1.5-inch track put a big smile on my face. That was the first real sled I could break trail on. I still have that black beauty and I can’t wait for my kids to have their turn busting some powder on it.
2. The sled that started the technical mountain riding we all live for today and my second favorite sled of all time is the 2005 Arctic Cat M7. It enabled me to go places I had never been able to before, opening up a whole new world in the backcountry. The M7 really opened my eyes to a new riding style, showed me what a true mountain sled was capable of, and a glimpse into what fun the future was going to be as the manufacturers began building mountain-specific sleds.
1. This may be a cop-out, but my top sled of all time is the 2013 Polaris Pro RMK. I didn’t think it was possible to do many of the things this sled can do, in stock form. It has given me a confidence I have never felt before. If someone would have told me five years ago that I would be riding a belt driven 417-pound sled right off the showroom floor I would have told them they are crazy! This machine set the bar for mountains sleds for the future and I promise you it will be looked upon as a snowmobile that changed the way we look at technical mountain riding forever!
