Scott Sports is on a roll. In the past couple years, the motorsports side of the Sun Valley, ID-based company has expanded into snowmobiling gear, motocross gear, boots and helmets. The Airborne line is Scott's premium helmet line.
When we first heard Scott was designing a helmet last year, we thought it would be a natural fit. After all, our favorite goggles are Scotts, so who better to provide the best fitting helmet/goggle combo?
The Airborne helmet, which is DOT, Snell and AMA Racing approved, features a lightweight pre-impregnated carbon fiber hybrid shell. The Airborne has a hi-flow vent system with a large inlet in the shell over the forehead and two inlets near the cheek pads. The back of the Airborne has multiple air flow exits, with two additional vents on the top of the helmet just behind the visor.
The liner is made of impact-absorbing Tri-density EPS and covers the head crown front and rear, and features a breathable open-cell mesh liner. The liner is removable and washable, along with the cheek pads.
What did we like about the new Airborne helmet? The eye port is massive, giving you excellent goggle fitment, great field of vision and added ventilation. The fit is top-notch, with no pressure points and no sore spots at the end of a ride.
The visor is long enough to be functional for sun and snow deflection, and stays secure thanks to a four-bolt mounting system.
We love the looks of the Airborne line of helmets, and you can pick from three colors in the Grid design (red/black, blue/black and grey/black), three colors in the Circuit design scheme (grey/black, red/grey and blue/red) or two color options in the Identity design (black/white or red/white).
