Early Snow Beats All Of Last Year’s Snow
First Ride? I’m still recovering from the last ride of the season. It was May 10, Wyoming. The snow had receded quite a bit from the ride the week previous. In fact, we couldn’t unload at the same spot near an opening in the woods big enough to turn a trailer around. So when I arrived at that location where I was supposed to meet up with Bret Rasmussen and a couple other guys, I figured I was early since Bret’s truck and 38-foot trailer weren’t there. But he was actually parked a mile further up the muddy, narrow dirt road. I assumed there was a place to turn around, so I trucked on up the road. Bret had actually backed his trailer up there from the spot I was waiting for him at. Maybe the guy should teach clinics on backing up trailers…

Polaris snowmobile hillclimbers more or less dominated on the Rocky Mountain Snowmobile Hillclimb Assn. (RMSHA) circuit this past winter, winning 11 Pro class points titles, all three Semi-Pro points crowns, two Women’s points titles and the lion’s share of King of the Hill honors at the circuit’s five points events.

Dutchman Closed To Snowmobiles
The Deschutes National Forest closed central Oregon's Dutchman Sno-Park’s snowmobiling access last weekend, citing early snow melt. Dutchman Sno-Park is located near Mt. Bachelor on the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway.

Legal Challenges Continue
As you should know by now, the snowmobile community was dealt a blow with a Judge's ruling in a recent case brought by Winter Wildlands Alliance (cross country skiers) against the Forest Service. The WWA challenged the legality of the Travel Management Rule of the Forest Service.

Arctic Cat Announces Engine And Co-Brand Agreements With Yamaha Motor Corporation
Plymouth, MN – Arctic Cat Inc. has entered into an Engine Supply Agreement with Yamaha Motor Corporation to expand its purchase of snowmobile engines starting in the 2014 model year. Arctic Cat initially entered into an agreement to purchase the Yamaha 123cc 4-stroke engines for their youth snowmobile in 2009. This agreement has now been expanded to include select 4-stroke engines from Yamaha.
