Pretty much but if you plan to turbo it you will want the single ring pistons in the late buld 08 and newer motors.

Funny... single- double -single- double.....

Polaris is going to a double ring again in their 600 & 800 motors... Boondockers is having great results from the doubles in thier 2010 proto sleds they are running on boost courtesy of Polaris Industries.

The 2010 700's will probably run the single ring again as they have not been having problems with them.

I looked on the online Polaris parts site and 2007, 2008 and 2009 all show dual rings for the 700. Are you guys sure about the single rings in 2008?

They may have updated again, 07 and early build 08's had a double then went to singles for the late build 08 and 09's. Not sure why BD says to use the singles but I've had great luck with mine so I'm not going to mess with it until BD says otherwise.

Polaris is going with Double Ring pistons in 2010 on the CFi 800's and from what I hear with the 700's as well.

Here are some good articles on single vs double ring pistons from RK Tek.... they are written for Rotax engines but the principal is universal for 2 stroke motors. Although on the whole, the Polaris single ring are not showing much direct ring-failure... they are having other problems that may be caused by ring and cyl tolerance problems.

IMO, I would rather have a 2 ring piston in my motor.

3) RK Tek: Single ring.... Single ring set-ups are great for making power in high rpm engines. In fact, in low rpm engines also, for that matter. What a single ring is NOT good for is transferring excessive amounts of heat. The ring is overloaded with heat and can not adequately transfer the heat from the crown. DOO has made the ring very thick in hopes of alleviating this problem but it is not doing the job. The ring is simply overloaded with heat!
