general advice

GOTO Select Physical Element .... SNOW DEPTH the press REDRAW MAP

Also make sure date is correct

IF in doubt Refresh Map


Default is water equivalent because used by hydrologist to see how much water the snow pack has to offer the farmers and BIG CITIES

Been using this for years. Really is a nice way to tell how much snow is really in an area.
