Just bought a rack from Polaris and now can't find a can to fit. Anyone have suggestions on what can will fit or where to get one. Opening is 8 1/2 x 11 3/4

Thanks

Once in a while one of the Polaris cans comes up for sale on ebay. You can also look for an old Gott 2.5 gal. can. Of course the gov outlawed them because we're all too irresponsible and allow a container to vent itself, but you could place an add locally or search rummage sales for one like I did.

Yep, those old cans are golden! I try to store all of my older vented cans out of direct sunlight and keep an eye out at yardsales for cans that aren't all bleached out and brittle. Have you also noticed that the old cans were shaped with a low center of gravity and the new ones are tall/skinny and tip over all the time? I'll bet more fuel is lost to spillage than was ever vented into the atmosphere!

I know you already bought the old style rack, but if you get desperate, Mountain Addiction Trackrack cans have a trick spout that actually pours pretty decent. The nozzel has an smaller upper and larger lower spout (looks like a number 8) that allows gas to actually pour while air is vented in on the upper part.

Last fall I realized my Gott container was missing. I suppose someone decided they needed it more than I. Anyway, I posted an add on Craigslist and got a call from a guy 5 miles away with one for $5. It wasn't my old one either. What are the odds? And you're right, the wider bottom makes it much more stable. I think I should make a rubber boot for the bottom before I wear a hole through it though.

I bet spray-on bedliner would do the trick too.

By the way, there is one on ebay now. A Polaris can. Kind of pricey, but they don't come up every day.
