Older cats wre 30mm also, but the length of the taper is different so clutches won't interchange. The 01 800 is a beast all of its own.

Sorry but that is not right. The 01 800 would take the same clutch as any of the other Cats that use a 30mm clutch. The 33mm Cat clutches for M 7 and the 800 and 900 have different amounts they fit onto the crank by about .060" but the taper is still the same.

I would have to double check this. Maybe the bore is set deeper like you are saying about the m7 and 900 cranks. The clutch for the 01 800 is a part number all it's own when you check the fish, and it doesn't show that it fits any other sled. I know when I replaced mine years ago the dealer said they were different. The length of the pto end is definitely longer on the 800.:face-icon-small-con

I looked that up too, and you are right the part number is different and says it doesn't fit anything else. Still can't figure out why that is, but I have swapped clutches on a dozen or more 01 800 engines and a clutch from any other 30mm taper goes on just the same. I have a box full of bad crank ends from 800s, I guess I will go check again. Just did so. The 800 crank end is longer than most other Cat cranks but just smaller on the very end so it extends into the clutch farther. Maybe some clutches don't have a deep enough bore to go on all the way. All the 30mm clutches in my pile went on the 800 end just the same as on a 570 or a 600. Still don't know why there would be a different part number for the 800 clutch.

800 crank

I have to eat a little crow here. I just found out that the clutch for an 01 800 does have a slightly different bore size and fits onto the crank about 1/8" farther than a standard 30mm clutch does. About the same amount of difference between an M7 clutch and the 8 and 900 33mm clutch. The standard 30mm one will still work, just doesn't fit as far onto the crank and the secondary will probably need to be shimmed out to match. Sorry for any problems I might have caused over this.
