07 600 CFI. Why the 5K resistance on the spark plug cap. Can I run caps with no resistance? Mine are always black dirty ,from arcing, my guess. Thinking of replacement, maybe MSD brand. Any thoughts welcome.
All of the OEM caps are resistor, at first they were used to cut down on radio interferance when riding in populated areas. FCC has requirements for this. Here at work, all of our designs have to be tested and pass before we can sell them. I also believe you need to run them so the radiated noise doesn't interfere with the ECU on the digital ignition sleds.
