Can you cut a 162 down to a 141?

I just got a 09 M8 153 and just love it! I have a 162 M1200 that I want to make shorter...I just don't need the length in the "UP" of MI or in WI.

Making it a 153 will be fairly easy as all the skid mounting measures the same as my M8, the cooling system will be the most work. Now I'm thinking since I like boondocking with the M8 I might just go 141 with the 1200 so I have a super fast trail sled and good back up off trail sled.

I'm just not sure if the new 141 xfire SP skid mounts in the same spot as the 162 where the tunnel bends up? Anyone know? I have the float 162 skid now.

All the mounting locations should be the same. The length of the drop bracket may be different, but the mounting holes will be the same. If you need a rear tunnel section for a crossfire I have one. It came off a 06 and it's black.

The cooling tubes in the tunnel will have to be replaced with shorter ones.

I have a BDx bumper kit on it now so if I do this I'm just going to cut it down to the length I need it to be then replace the cooling rails and heat exchanger to the 141 or 153 stock 09 parts. I wonder if the rear arms in the skid are shorter on a 141?

I had a M7 141" and it was too short. I had problems with spinning and getting stuck too much.....I sold that sled and went longer. I really think the 153" will manuever better than a 141" because centralized mass of the M-series. If you are running a 1200, it may be too much for the 141" and spin continuously. However, good luck with whatever your selection is.

A 141 with the right track and set up will work good in the pow.
If It was me I would go 153 and leave the tunnel alone.
If you decide to sell later on, the 162 may be easier to sell and you could change back easily.

I have a 2007 m1000 153 and I am thinking of making it a 162. If you want to trade or sell any of the 162 parts let me know.

I have 2007 162 rails and a nice 162 ported Challenger track I won't ever be using again if your interested in them.

When and if I make the change the only things I'll have to sell will be a PC-162, A20-162(cut down), and 2008 162 rails. I wouldn't be interested in any 2007 parts.

thanks

Paul

Paul, I bought a 141 for this year that's a strong running 1000, I love it! the only reason you need a longer track is operator inferiority!!

Just rode with burandt yesterday, I was stuck less than anyone else (yeah, on a 141) and it's WAY more FUN to ride!!!!
