With the first batch of 800r motors approaching the end of their warranties and the numerous issues that have been discussed I thought it would be interesting to see what kind of miles people have on sleds. I am interested to see who has a motor with 3-4-5+k miles and hasnt had any work done to it?
Some quotes from dealers:
Crank run out posted in the manual says 2.4 thou is upper end/max tolerance...........
1) Engines will have wear and those spec numbers that are generated are only a guideline, aka we wont fix it unless it blows up. Nothing like arrogant comments such as: why would you even check the run out?
2) BRP has told us that the new spec is now 7 thou but we dont have any proof of that and btw we wont look at it until it blows up.
3) We know there is problems with this motor but even when they blow up brp will "probably" cover parts and not labor. Also we wont look at it until it blows up.
4) BRP has offered incentives to dealers to take 800r motor sleds on trade and additional 1 year warranty so that dealer can move them..........interesting?
There where numerous negative comments from the dealers and I am also amazed and how quick they are to bad mouth their fellow dealerships. God help if you mention you read about it on the "internet" or spoke to another dealer as that seems to raise a red flag. But, lets try and keep the thread on track. I must admit there where 2 dealers that where quit helpful and willing to chat about possible problems.
Last rant......why is it with warranties running out majority of dealers have no idea how much extended warranty costs and for that matter dont even appear to want to sell it?
