I agree Scott, the original quata was 300, then upped to 5-800, then upped to 1500, now we all have over 2000, what gives, (other than $$$ as buck50 stated). Where does the line get drawn? Ranchers and such don't have the $ to fight these A-HOLES that brought them here in the first place, but a # cap NEEDS to be set for cripes sake!!!

You are totally and completely crazy!!!

I grew up on a ranch, no wolves. Just coyotes.

To threaten a judge is a crime!!

Must be pretty ignorant as to what has been happening in Idaho Montana and Wyoming since 97. Since the reintroduction ( shouldn't it be introduction since it wasn't even the same subspecies of wolf that we had) They have breed like rabbits and our heards have taken a huge hit. Reved before you pipe up and post you may wanna do some reading and get educated on the subject so you don't look like a moron. There is a ton of reading on this subject and the more you read the madder it will make you.

You are right, I don't know much about this situation. Didn't mean to say I did.

My point is that when YOU sound like an extremist. NO ONE will take you seriously and when YOU threaten people, it only makes things worse.

my 2 cents again

I don't know you fellas. Just saying venting is one thing. Sounding like a bunch of lawless thugs with guns, is another!!

A little more on this BS story

BILLINGS, Mont. - A federal judge has restored endangered species protections for gray wolves in the Northern Rockies, derailing plans by three states to hold public wolf hunts this fall.

U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy granted a preliminary injunction late Friday restoring the protections for the wolves in Montana, Wyoming and Idaho. Molloy will eventually decide whether the injunction should be permanent.

The region has an estimated 2,000 gray wolves. They were removed from the endangered species list in March, following a decade-long restoration effort.

Environmentalists sued to overturn the decision, arguing wolf numbers would plummet if hunting were allowed. They sought the injunction in the hopes of stopping the hunts and allowing the wolf population to continue expanding.

"There were fall hunts scheduled that would call for perhaps as many as 500 wolves to be killed. We're delighted those wolves will be saved," said attorney Doug Honnold with Earthjustice, who had argued the case before Molloy on behalf of 12 environmental groups.

In his ruling, Molloy said the federal government had not met its standard for wolf recovery, including interbreeding of wolves between the three states to ensure healthy genetics.

"Genetic exchange has not taken place," Molloy wrote in the 40-page decision.

Molloy said hunting and state laws allowing the killing of wolves for livestock attacks would likely "eliminate any chance for genetic exchange to occur."

The federal biologist who led the wolf restoration program, Ed Bangs, defended the decision to delist wolves as "a very biologically sound package."

"The hunting of wolves clearly wouldn't endanger threatened wolf populations," Bangs said Friday. "We felt the science was rock solid and that the delisting was warranted."

Extremist? Actually if YOU WOULD STUDY THE SITUATION like I said early you would realize that we are the mainstreem in the states in question not even close to having an extremist mentality. I don't know one person from any of the states that the wolves were introduced into that is for it. You should see the number of stickers on trucks in these areas that realate to killing wolves ( save 100 elk kill a wolf, support your ranchers kill a wolf, shoot shovel and shut up I could go on) The point is, and I made this same point in another thread this spring. Some tree huggers that wanted wolves here got really selfish and didn't take into account all the negative effects it would have on the areas and the people. What do they care? They live back east or their pockets are getting lined by the greenies. These are the effects wolves have had since they put them in. 1st the local wolve species has been pushed out and destroyed by a species that is nearly double the size ( makes sense destroy what nature was already doing) 2nd Our game heards from the last count I saw are 1/3 of what they were prior to it. So that means alot of guides, tourist money from out of state hunters, and local tags are gone becuase the opportunity isn't there anymore. 3rd the effect on ranchers, Its been a bit since I have studied any current data on this but the last number I saw was reporting 25% mortality rate increase on calves in the areas with the highest populations.
The positive...................................................... Some guy can see a wolf slaughter some elk in Yellowstone ( which IMO is as far from a natural park as you can get).
Great trade off eh?

So again read up and get some perspective and knowledge on a situation before you comment. The only thing it will do is make you more knowledgable about something ( honestly who wouldn't want that?)

business as usual in washington

The federal biologist who led the wolf restoration program, Ed Bangs, defended the decision to delist wolves as "a very biologically sound package."

Here you have a FEDERAL biologist telling a FEDERAL judge that the science used was solid and that populations were strong (which is a suprise that their "science" wasn't skewed by enviromentalist pressure) and being rejected? No wonder nothing ever gets done in Washington!

I did a presentaion on bison in Yellowstone for my speech class when I attended community college several years ago. Up until the late '60's to early70's the park kept the bison population in check. It was'nt until the ESA the park opted for a management plan of "natural control" for the bison herds. Now the park's bison (which aren't being "controlled" very well) are moving out of the park because there is not enough grazing area for the population it has. So now we have bison spreading brucellosis to cattle herds around the park. Now with two cases of brucellosis in Montana cattle we have lost millions of dollars of potential exports because we have lost our brucellosis free status.

I fully believe the real decision to return wolves to Yellowstone was not the media freindly effort to restore a species to their previous habitat. I feel the wolf was brought back as part of the "natural control" policy of the bison herds. Instead, the only thing the wolves have controled is the elk inside and Montana's cattle outside the park.

Judge Malloy isn't the only stooley partner the enviromentalists have. The entire 9th Circuit Court of Appeals continues to side with enviromentalists on issues concerning Western states.

A bumper sticker I saw a couple of days before this story broke says it best--it showed a picture of a wolf and said "SMOKE A PACK A DAY"

Thats about the way things go these days.Ignore the facts and do what idiot treehuggers do reguardless .

 Money can go a loooong looooong ways. Its okay to be upset, but to be a little on the extreme side can do alot of harm for the cause.

You really think thats going to stop ranchers from shooting wolves? Or any of you for that matter? Endangered or not, a breathing wolf is a soon dead wolf, the only problem is that I have to tan the hides myself instead of taking them to someone.

oh well......outta push the price of fur up again, I want to put a Fastrax M10 under my sled this season, anyone want to buy any wolf furs?

I agree I was just pointing out in these areas the anti-wolf attitude isn't even close to being extreme its more of the norm.

To threaten a judge is a crime!!

I also believe that manipulation and bribery are a crime as well when having such a role in politics and the government  are you a fool to believe that Molloy wasnt critisized or bull horned or even bribed to do what he did? Thats just politics bru

Money makes the wolf situation go round and round, been happening for many years. Best thing you can do is keep it simple stupid, dont even read the news paper or read the headlines, all news is bad news anyways
