Loudest can for D7?

I've been looking around for an aftermarket cannister. Seems like a lot of people went with "the thing", MBRP, or SLP. I don't really need to gain horsepower, but I for sure don't want to lose any either. Which one is the loudest? Which has the best loss in weight?

A lot of guys on here have went with the HPS can and have been very happy with the fit / finish and the noise. It has a nice bark to it when WOT. Scott is a great guy and can tell you more. No re-flash is needed with the HPS.

I've ordered one for my D8 and it should be here any day now. SLP cans are still on back order and I ordered it last March when I snowchecked my sled. I got tired of waiting!

HPS is located in Idaho, his number is (208) 357-3343

I have the high flow version of the HPS can on my D7 and it is very loud at wide open throttle. It is quite a bit lighter than the slp and a lot louder. There are 2 versions to this can, I think the high flow version is too loud for me, if anyone is interested in trading their standard version for my high flow version let me know. It has under 100 miles on it and looks brand new. Or I might just sell the thing, anyone want to trade?

Edit: Here I uploaded a video from last weekend on how it sounds. None of this was WOT though, which is quite a bit louder. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdiQTVum8Zk

I have the SLP can on my 08 700 dragon. It is not much lighter than stock. Maybe just a couple pounds. It is not much louder than stock either but I think it has the perfect sound. Loud sleds = closing riding areas. I know that MBRP makes loud & light ones if that's what you want. Not sure what the HPS ones are like but people on here seem to like them.

see if cutler is making one for the dragon.... by far the loudest cans i've ever heard

Why do you want a loud can?
Do you think noise makes ya faster?
If loud is important, just run a pair of straight pipes straight to your helmet and attact at the ears. That should be loud enough for ya.

I am with Ollie. You are probably on of those kids with a GEO metro that has a 6" exaust on it. Useless but sounds cool.:D

I would be interested in trading you for the high flow version, is it ceramic coated?

Flexible foil dryer vent works great for this. Affix one end to your pipe, and affix the other end to a fitting cut into your helmet. It'll sound nice and loud for you and the empty space between your ears will act as a nice expansion chamber/silencer for the rest of the world. Win/win! :)

Don't insult the guy 'cause he wants a loud exhaust... (He drive a F350 Diesel according to his signature, not a Metro)

I definatley agree with the point that loud cans can cause problems for the "public image" of sledding... The same point can be made for the guy in your nighborhood that has a Toyota Supra with a 5" exhaust on it that rips around your neighborhood when you and your buddies are playing a game of poker or your kids are trying to sleep... It probably pizzes you off...

"Loud pipes save lives" is not a realistic argument IMO.

If it doesn't make more power, why have the extra noise? I know it may sound good to a motorhead, but why give the greenies more ammo?

I think Kelsey at RK Tek said that the Super-Q and Ultra-Q from www.skinzprotectivegear.com were the best for power in his tests.

A loud can gives you the Percieved notion of more power but that is not the case in most applications

Highjacking the thread a little here, but.......................

Caught a show a couple years ago out of england.
It was about a counter-harmonics system for your exhaust. What it did was allow your exhaust to sound like anything you wanted. A 3 cyclinder car that sounded like a fully piped V-8, or a fully piped V-8 that is wisper quite.

I don't know why the sled makers can't do something like that. I would think it wouldn't weigh much (a couple pounds maybe) and I would LOVE a sled that is ultra quite.

Sorry, didn't mean to piss you guys off, but to tell everyone that I drive a GEO? WTF mate? Everyone has a right to their own opinion. To tell you the truth, I have an SLP can on order. Nice and quiet for ya. I thought people on this forum had some decency, but I am apparently mistaken.

Naw, most people are decent enough. You just had the luck to step on a VERY raw nerve. Loud pipes and cans.

MBRP is always nice and loud on the poos. Sno stuff is pretty loud too. Gotta love loud pipes and listening to all the trail hoppers whine about the noise " waaah youll close our groomed trail, wahhh, seriously..STFU Cans are about weight loss and sound. If you buy a can to add real hp youre an idiot.

If you guys want quiet, get a set of cross country skis.

On edit...that was a funny fing video, sled sounds great...love the narrator, hahahahaaa!!
