Stolen Sleds & Trailer in COLORADO (Need Some Help)

Last spring 2 sleds and a trailer were stolen in Broomfield CO from my 70 year old neighbor and we need some help.
99 sledbed w/ fiberglass topcap SN#41KAS1814X2026232,
2002 Yamaha Viper SX700 SN#JYE8EK0022A010374
1999 Yamaha Mtn Max 700 SN# 8CP010619

An friend spotted the trailer around 120th and holly and the police were notified. the stickers were removed, the sn# was removed and the trailer was re-titled as a home built trailer. the guy says he bought it off of craigs list a year and a half ago.(it was stolen a year ago). With enough description (scratches, dings, scrapes, mounting locations, holes.
The trailer was returned to the rightfull owner.
But the sleds are nowhere to be found, the neighbors of the theif had seen yamaha sleds at his house before but they are not their now. supposedly the sled are at his fathers house some where in weld county, but the local law enforcement says they don't have enought proof to go look to see if these sleds are the stolen sleds.
Any body have any good ideas or contacts that could help my OLD neighbor? (ideas other than the usual go beat him up comments would be helpfull) attached are some pictures.
Thanks Curt. 303-475-6609

Any mods? Stuff that is different that would make them stick out? Pictures? (photobucket account will help that)

Boondock, the sleds were stolen last year, and they were in the trailer. The only thing that was different was the MTN Max had a red skid plate on it. Trying to get the pictures up but having problems. Thanks

Theif caught & sentenced!!!!

2 years later...
recovered mtn max & trailer, the viper is still missing.
this is this guys third felony conviction. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail, 3 years of probation, and ordered to pay restitution.
He doesn't report to Broomfield County Jail until Dec 26. (so he could spend Christmas with his wife and kids)???

so if you see the viper in a pond or on a trail these thief's are not smart people.
Thanks to all for the help that came from many different places!

The victim should be happy with that kind of sentence

They give out work release for more then that in jeffco..............

I will keep and eye out.

If any one wants the theifs name PM me

The stupid court appointed atty wanted community service. But the prosecutor was mad at the punks past record and wanted more. It's a good with the victim.

As someone who works in the "enforcement" part of the system, it does get discouraging when you see the same people over and over again.

On another note, your local law enforcement agency should be willing to clear the VIN on any trailer or sled you are planning on buying to make sure it is not stolen. If somethig turns out to be stolen and you buy it, you will lose the item and probably your money as well in the end.

ayoder, not so here in Colorado Springs. I tried to have the vin checked on an old Ski Doo last year and was told they don't do that. They used to though.

Another Update

It turns out the viper was sold on craigs list by the thief for $1000.
The buyer has been ridding it around a farm and never applied for the OHV sticker. The first if December he applied for the OHV permit. The state took his money and sent him on his way.
The Adams county sheriff stopped by his house and escorted the second victim to the first victim's house with the sled and it HAS BEEN RETURNED with less than 100 new miles on it.

A big Thanks to all of the law enforcement and others that have touched this case.
The thief "Tory Morrison from Thornton" who stole these sleds and trailer is still on probation.
Thanks Curt
