M1000 Hiccups on the Bottom

Hey I have a 2008 M1000 SnoPro.

Since the day I picked it up it has had a bottom end bog around 39-4100 RPM and sometimes when you let it idle it will just stall. This only happens when the sled is fully warmed up and only below 4100RPM or so. It runs strong above that.
I have had it to the dealer twice now (it is in for the 3rd time presently) and the dealer keeps giving me a whole bunch of Double Speak. ie you used the wrong gas, it is snow calving, it is the throttle switch etc etc. well I am running 87 octane as per the manual and have tried isopropyl or no isopropyl and the problem is still there. The second time the dealer changed the Fuel Pump and regulator assembly an the associated smart valves in the fuel tank. No Luck

I am wondering if this is and ECU problem as it happens before clutch engage RPM and if anyone has any advice. I have lost faith in my dealer at this point.

NOTE
there are no ECU codes or any other abnormal indications
The sled works fine when you first start riding.

Thanks in Advance

How is your oil consumption? It could be loading up with oil if it's set too rich. I had a problem with my M8 oil pump sticking at about the 1/4 open position, it gave a similar running condition to what you describe.

We need to get together on this. My 08 m1000 sno pro is doing the exact same thing with similar results from my dealer. It was being blamed on the throttle safety switch which we switched out to no avail...This weekend I rode with the wire to the switch cut and it still did the same thing. My dealer said I'm the only sled doing it but I'm calling b.s. Lets keep this topic up top and see if anybody else out there has found the real cure to this very annoying problem. I'm with you on another thing...other than the intermittant hiccup, the sled is absolutely awesome! My problem is the cut out has occured twice while I was going off small cornices, if they were bigger it would have been ugly. Thanks to anyone who can help.

My 08 M1K does the same thing. It never really stalls, it just hiccups around 4000 RPM on occasion. I thought it had something to do with my mods (SLP single, cutler cold air intake, RK Tek head) and maybe I could tune it out with the BD box, but no luck so far. Not really a problem on my sled, just an irritant.

When turning down my oil pump I also noticed that it would "stick" sometimes around the 1/4 throttle position. To me it seemed like it was designed into the pump, as nothing was binding. I wonder if they are all like this. It's not something you would know about unless you were adjusting the oil usage.

low rpm bogg

I have A 07 M1000 that at low rpm just after clutch engagement will some times act and sound like one cylinder just dies out, If you let off the throttle and then smack it hard its gone, Its wierd, It never completly dies, there just is no power when it happens and yes very anoying. It has happened twice just as I went to start a steep pull and of course then im stuck. realy pisses me off. tried to adjust it out with my pure logic box with no success. also when this happens my wideband reads extremly lean around 17.0, and if you keep the trottle down it dont go away until you let off the throttle and try again. My buddy has the same problem some times with his 07 M1200. to me it seems like it happens most after its warmed up then shut off for maybe 20 minutes or so then started and try to pull away slowly. Sound like the same thing to you guys?

Same thing on my uncles 08 m1 snopro. His hiccups really bad, especially when he needs it most like when he stops on a sidehill and goes to yank it to get it back up. Sometimes the sled will even completely die on him.

I have a very similar issue, but it never hicups when I need the juice.
I cannot reproduce it at home in the field, or at any other time unless I am pushing it very hard, then stop and idle... It will want to die, idles low, and acts like it is loaded up, and has a miss when given throttle.
Like I said, once I get going, all is great... The only time I notice it is if I make a long hard pull, lots of heat, and then stop and let it idle... I have talked to the service manager about it, but I am confident they would not be able to reproduce it in the shop.
Mine is more of an irritation than anything... Throttle response is unbeleivable, and works great... Just kind of irritating.
Only stumble or anything similar I have noticed is when the pipe is cold... Once warm, hold on.

I feel you Dawg

You guys are all describing the kind of crap I have experienced!

My dealer tells me I am the only one it has ever happened to and to be honest when they were actually working on my sled the second time they gave me a rental 1000 sp and it ran like crap at 39-4100 rpm (200 total miles on sled same as mine) but it would not stall it just acted a little loaded up. When I pin mine and dont let up it will just die. Thing is it only happens once in a while maybe 4-5 times in a 50 mile ride and only when it is hot like somone else said after a long pull up a hill you just turn out and let off to head down then grab some gas and NOTHING off the hill it will roll smashing the crap out of your leg!

I spent Wednesday in the Hospital for Xrays on my left leg when this POS died at the top of a high mark at 10,800' above Togowotee Pass.

I will keep you guys posted, I am not going to let this die
$12,000 for a sled I can't ride sucessfully is BS

I think I want my 05 M7 back (finest sled ever made)

Stay Tuned for more BS from my dealer!

Oil Consumption

When the sled was out of th box it ran at 26:1
after 350 miles I turned it 2 turns and went to 31:1 I am happy with that for the rest of the break in but the problem still exists. I am told it takes 500 miles for these new Cylinders to break in.

Please keep us posted and thanks for the info on this issue.
Same issues on my 08 M1000! After a long pull, turn out, and coast to the bottom it will not come back to life until a couple of blurps on the throttle. BS!
Really sucks when you need a handfull to get out of a situation.

Is everyone having issues at exactly 4000 rpm where the engine bogs down? Please confirm prior to moving forward with your dealership, it will benefit best if you can duplicate the problem prior to contacting your dealer. It could be in the fuel map? Check your plug wires to ensure they aren't grounding out on your steering post.

I have made this comment in a couple of other threads. Check your fuel pressure!!!!! I have seen quite a few that load up and it is because the fuel pressure is too high. If you have your sled at your dealer, they can check this for you. It is most apparent at lower RPM's and if you let it sit it will load up. You should have it close to 42psi at idle. Also check your oil consumption. 40:1 with a synthetic oil is good.

Mine too,08 M1000 SP, bogs at around 4000 rpm, has done this since new.Recently installed slp exhaust system and pure logic box, thought I could fine tune it to remove the bog but no luck. Are any of your sleds having gauge problems aswell? Mine does all kinds of strange things and the dealer wants to fix the gauges before going further with the bog.Ive also had issues with the pipe sensor which failed on the 2nd ride and failed again after 650 miles, caused codes 07, 17 and put the ecu into failsafe mode.

I'm running a 1200 kit and mine seems to be doing the same thing. Never stalls but just sounds dull on the low end. I went on a 30 mile ride and my oil level drops almost 3 inches. That seems like a lot to me. Not sure how far to go on the oil adjustment?? I have a D&D PAC system laying in my tool box...I think I might install that just to check fuel pressure.

stock 08 m1000 slp y pipe, can & bmp fuel reg i phoned bmp to ask what pressure i should run the told me between 51-53 lbs mine started crapping out around 4000 like it was loading up so i turned the reg down to 49 lbs seems to run much better not sure how low i can go before i lean it out to much mostly ride from 5000-8500 ft i was told to be carfull make sure lots of fuel but it doesn't seem to like it what pressures are you guys running?.

Mine showed 7950 on the recall also but have never noticed it that high when watching the tach.Usually it's between 7500 and 7800 depending on snow conditions.
