Helmet light for night riding?

Any of you guys using a helmet mounted light of some sort when you ride at night? I'm thinking about a cabled light that runs off the sled, so I can look side to side out of the headlight area.

:cool:Try a "Lead Dog" light. They velcro to the top of your helmet and I think it has a 35w bulb in it. Then to make it really handy, mount a small dry cell battery under your hood (ads about 2 lbs +/-) and power it off your engine then run the light off the battery. Now if you have a breakdown after dark you have a 35w work light and you don't have to run an engine to keep the power on. Go to www.helmetlight.com for info on the light. And NO I'm not a salesman. HID's for sure

they are totaly awesome for light output. A 15 watt HID puts out as much light as a 55 watt Halogen BUT they only work with DC voltage and most sleds are AC unless you have an electric starter.

The trail tech setup has battery pack that works well not sure what it weighs though.

ye but i have a arctic cat snocross helmet with ounted rear lights, i only ride after school so its always dark, (im 15 btw) it goes gr8t and the batery lasts 3 years, unless ur talking about lights so u can see where u loook, the a/c snocross helmet is great

HID IS THE WAY TO GO !!

Why buy a light like the lead dog that you can only use on your sled ?

We use ours for mtb,xc ski ( lift assist out of bounds tele and skating the golf course ) roller blading ( 4 guys race pace, 10 miles to the bar and back ) boccie ball :D ( camping we have ended up a mile from camp before while playing.:beer; etc....
Doubles your play time.

I have a Niterider Storm HID helmet light that I used when mountain biking. It works okay for nighttime ATV and snowmobile riding... better for snowmobiling since the snow is white and reflects the light better.

Best part... charge it up before you go and it's good for four hours on one charge. Mine's pretty old too (circa 2001) so the new ones may be even better.

Downside is they ain't cheap. Check eBay... I got mine on there, best price I could find at the time.

The guys I ride with and I all have some kind of helmet light. One guy started it and now we all have one. I few have the lead dog but we found it better to find a small 55w driving light and wire to the sled with a plug, a little Velcro and that seems to work well. Works really well when the snow cover up the sled light.
The HID seems like a great idea but for 500 bucks makes it a little less attractive.

Could you post a pic of the 55w driving light setup on a helmet?

A couple of my buddies have a rounder light seems to work better. It's small too. It just seems to shine the light farther. This oval one is ok too. I could unplug the sled headlight and comfortable ride.
