my buddy's xrs smoking my xp

I am not impressed with my new xp we were riding this weekend and my buddy's 07 xrs smoked my new 08 xp. He is 30 pounds heavier than me and has just changed his track to the same track as my xp. My dealer is telling me that it just needs the brake in time that maybe true but it better be one hell of a difference. The xrs was getting about 10 mph more track speed. I am looking for some feed back on how to make this thing work.

Sincerly,
should have bought another m series

Sounds like something is wrong, my XP dominates the Revs.... Are you pulling 8100 RPM?? Got your belt height set right. Is everything else setup right?? Also you got the 154" track? If so put in a 19t top gear, it pulls much much harder...:D

Yup, go buy another Cat;) My 154xpX is outclimbing my uncles '07xrs159. Both clutched by the same dealer, both 205 lbs. I have 154 miles on mine. It started running good at 80 or so. I wasn't kidding about buying a Cat. Just wait to you kiss a rock at 15 mph and twist your sled. I can't wait to spend a G on my XP from a 15 mph surf turn. Maybe a Dragon 800:confused:

Sylvan's right. regear to 19t on top, put weight back in pins if dealer took it out and watch your secondary adjustment. My sled's got about 80 on it and it's really waking up. Bouncing off rev limiter over 9k in clicker 2... gonna add some weight back that dealer took out and see what happens.

If your so disappointed, I don't think you have any trouble trading 07 owners for your sled. Then again...maybe it's the rider.

How many miles did you ride? You do have to break it in though. When my rev "broke in" the thing flat out ripped compared to when I started riding it! It was a huge difference. Give it a chance!

Its running 8100 and the secoundary is set properly. The sled has 195 miles on it and i have not felt it open up. As for the maybe it's the rider comment we switched sleds and had the same outcome.

Just a thought , my 07 800 xrs seemed to be lacking power and i found a hose for the power valves off . check the hoses?

ive only got to put 40 miles on mine so far with no personel settings [clutch and suspension] but its not the arm ripper i had hoped for,ill give it some time and make ajustments and it should come to life. i seem to jugde everything from my 06 x 151.

somehthing wrong with your xp , was out last weekend with an xrs BB,
with 08 track and stock xp would beat it everywhere , on hard snow maybe?,
make it actually climb and there will be no comparison, the knew chassis is
in a league of its own.

If it were mine I would do a compression check. It is turning enough speed...so fuel and clutching ok. Power would be issue...don't understand the electronc timing but dealer may be able to check.
That wasn't a NOS bottle sticking out of that 07 side panel was it? Goose

dude something is wrong if the xrs is beatin ya take into ur dealer and get it checked out. also whoever it was said buy a m8 i havent seen one that can beat me yet.

How many kms/miles on your sled? My buddy and I climbed side-by-side me and pulled only 63 kms/hour on his new sled when I pulled 93kms/hour. Same sled but I had 3 rides on him. Maybe your just waiting for your sled to wake up?:D

Anyone that thinks every XP is gonna beat every Rev; is a bit too far into the "hype zone". A dialed in Rev will give an average XP all it can handle...all day long. Getting the power to the snow is still the deciding factor....period.
