Just defected from Polaris, need advice

Fixed all my Adrenaline issues, took it back and bought an X!

Ok guys I finally gave up on Polaris and bought a Ski-Doo. I was a little leery of the brand new XP and the '07 had crank problems so I bought an '06 Summit Adrenaline 800HO 151". :p Has an HPS can. 2500 miles.

Now I need some advice.
I heard that the chaincase can be a problem on REV's. I pulled it open and it looks fine to me. I am inlcuding a pic so you experts can tell me what you think.

Some questions:
#1: Can I put on a 3" riser without new cables/hoses?
#2: Will a summit X seat and tail light bolt right on to this tunnel? (I know where I can get used ones).
#3: Has anyone had any experince with the Timbersled suspension products on the REV chassis?
#4: Besides buying LW componenets what little tricks can I do to start pulling the weight off this baby!
#5: Best performance mods? (Does anyone have any experince with the RKTech drop in pistons and head kit? Does it perform as advertised?

Thanks in advance.

You can't go wrong with RKT stuff.....very reliable, and power as advertised

You'll find a wealth of info on Doo Talk

The biggest problem with regards to the chain case is the breaking of chains...You really need to take the chain off the sprockets and take a good look at all the links and see if you find any broken.... If you're lucky and catch it before it gernades, you'll find pieces of links on the dip stick magnet.... The mod there is to buy a 15 wide chain and a 15 wide top gear to replace the 13 wide top gear (no need to change the bottom gear)....or if you want to spend a little more, get a HYVO chain setup (new gears and chain).

06 is a great sled,,as far as the chain- keep track of the tension and it will hold up fine,,we retension our every 4 or 5 rides, its usually good.

Thanks for all the replies. I've got a lot to learn.

Anyone care to comment about the other questions posted above?

Cant say about a 06 just yet...we just got one ourselfs...however the drop in piston kit , head , and reflash of the mpem works great on my 02 800. Dino

On the chain case issue it is easily fixed, get a straight edge of some sort and make sure the gears line up properly. I know of a couple of guys that had there chains break, we got to doing some looking and found that the gears were not lined up with one another. We had to take a gear off and put a homeade spacer behind it to get them lined up. Works great never had a broken chain since. :)

Thanks agian for all the input. I found some serious issues with the Adrenaline I just bought so I took it back and bought an X model. Cost me $1400 more but considering that I was thinking about spending $500-$600 on new shocks and $300-$400 on a new seat, it's pretty close to break even. The X only has 1200 miles so I won't have to do a thing other than change the chain case oil and rebuild the shocks after this season,
Plus it's all black and looks BAD-A$$!!

You gave up on polaris the year they make the best sled on the snow as far as out the box performance and reliability? Thats real smart!

Perhaps you forgot to read the skidoo threads with all the bit___ng and problems?

HMM

Good luck!

Did somebody fart? I thought I heard something.

TurboPUPPY,
Buying a brand new sled with an unproven motor that you could hardly have driven much (given the time of year) and then labeling it the best sled on the snow shows your a real mental giant.!:face-icon-small-dis
Everyone reading this already knows your a smartass but time will tell whether that 800 is reliable or not and we'll see if you are as smart as you think you are.

This is exactly what everyone said about the 900 isn't it? Polaris has been a day late and a good idea short since '04.

Right now the '06 REV 800 is the latest proven package out there. The '06-'07 M8 is a good sled but I prefer the REV. And the '06-'07 Dragon 800 is..... oh that's right, THEY DIDN'T MAKE ONE!:p

I have that same sled, black 06 800X. It was great out of the box but after the first year I wanted a little more so I did a little sompin sompin to the top end and a little clutching and now it rips. Same reliability and alot more performance. The X was also the better choice, you'll love it. Congrats and welcome to the evil empire.

Remove Foam in engine compartment and Swaybar for weight loss. X seat will go on my problem. Get a LED light not the stock more weight loss there also. I think the 3 inch will go on no problem maybe just move the brake line to the inside of the oil bottle. Put a HPS Can on it. Get rid of that stock can, big weight savings there. Umm im sure there is a few more things im missing.
