No RMK Assaault reviews???

Nothing....zero....zilch. I know it takes a pretty special person to grab life by the balls, stand out from the crowd, grow a set and admit you're one bad MOFO. I do. I also understand the pressure involved with buying the baddest sled on the planet. It's not easy, I know. But maybe...for those less fortunate, you could detail the experiences to date of riding the bad-asses sled ever built. If not for me and the rest with no snow, do it for mankind.

What comes on the Assault that couldn't be had on the snow checks besides better a-arms, which we all now wish we had and, the competition track which nobody but actual racers want?


The 3" models come with a chain case and could be had with the same WE piggy back shocks the Assault has. Those seemed like the best reasons to buy the Assault but you could get them without having to buy it. Most people would also shy away from a wider front end if that was still a part of the package.


Now I wish I would have manned up and found one with the powder track. The RMK lower a-arms are pathetic. I would kill for a sturdy front end rather than have to spend $500 in the aftermarket for a sled that can actually be ridden...


Oh, and just to torture you a little more while you do the snow dance. It wont stop snowing here, we have picked up a foot or two almost everyday this week in the back country. There is so much new fresh that I just spent the last two days digging out Ski Doos. Barely burned 4 gallons of fuel in a day, a wicked couple of powder days... It is a tough problem to have. Even when you break them a trail on a shorter track machine... more digging and pulling... So get ready for that LOL

They no longer make the competition track. It's a peak 2.25 or you can get a 2.6 or a 3" in the snow check. They have an extra brace in front of the front track arm that the RMK doesn't. Also, the Assault shocks are a needle shock with 5/8" shafts. (Beefy shocks) The RMKs with the piggy backs are just that, piggy backs. They are the monotubes with a reservoir and 1/2" shafts. Polaris cheaped out on that for the snow checks this year...2015 was the only year you could get needle shocks on your RMK Snow check. Most guys would be happy with the Assault.

Really like my '16 Assault 3 inch. Assault feels more aggressive then the Pro, front sits higher and handles hard hits far better. Likes to transfer more than the Pro, makes it great for gapping open creeks or getting over down trees. Does result in less forgiving deep snow handling though, trenches more than a Pro and does not climb as flat. Pretty much forces you to go faster and attack hard, great once you get used to it! Like the wide arms for everything except elevators and squeezing through really tight trees. I did have to use the front track shock from my '14 assault, damping and spring are both a lot softer on the 16. Will have to get the rear track shock revalved as the 14 would not fit. The front feels great, not sure why they messed up the skid. Have a 2013 Pro 163, 2014 Assault with 2.4" track and the 2016 Assault 3" track. Pro only got used for really deep days once I got the Assault. Hope that helps!

Thanks. How's stability without the sway bar? Compared to the Pro...

Theyre not cast.

I thought they were the same. They looked the same but haven't inspected a pro. I have an assault and was worried since I seem to always find a rock to shred an a-arm

Even on the widest setting the Axys Assault is not really stable and I do not think a sway bar would help much. Feels more like the tall chassis and low ski pressure that excess movement in the front shocks.

A-arms are tube steel instead of forged aluminum. I can not say for certain that they are stronger than forged, but I would bet they are. Have taken quite a few solid hits, broke the top steering bushing on a rock hit without bending an arm. Not indestructible though...
