RTR weights, Axys, T3 174, LTD cat, mod cat

Just for full disclosure, and for those data nerds like myself, here's the skinny on the Axys and T3:

-Fuel tanks were filled until the pump clicked, waited 10 seconds and then filled again until the pump clicked once more. I had my wife sitting on the T3 during fillup so it was burped.

-Both sleds are bone stock, I had a lightweight can on the T3 but swapped it out for the factory can for the weigh in.

-The Axys has the WE clicker shocks so it may vary from other posted weights.

-Everything was removed from storage compartments on both sleds.

Very straightforward weigh in that was done right!

@madmax - Thanks for the opportunity to stop by and get this info on snowest!

Good work on the weight loss on your 16 Cat, surprised theres only 20lbs difference between the t3 and the Axys, liteweight can and not that far off

That is the simplest, most straightforward comparison of weights I have ever seen. Good job Madmax.

Safe to say that a lw hood on a Cat Ltd 162 is within 5 lbs of the Axys. I think that would surprise most people. Putting a can on both would make it pretty close.

Did I hear the call for haters????????

You weighed the heaviest possible Doo and Poo. Can we get a cost on the mod Cat? Is that an extra $5000 to get there? The difference between my stock 155 2.6 Axys and the Limited Cat is 40 lbs still. If you are going to take 12-15 off with a can, so can I, it is still 40 lbs difference. Most of it seems to reside on the front end, which is not where I want it. The balance is much better on the Poo, and I have spent a weekend on the '16 Cat.

Nice to see some honest weights. Apples to apples model/track length comparisons would be nice too.

--So 21 lbs difference between Stock 162 2.6 Axys and stock 153 3 inch ProClimb Ltd.

--Install a TI can, hood and belt drive and your PC is roughly 17 lbs lighter than stock Axys

--TI quiet can on Axys drops maybe 15 lbs??

--Stock for stock, AXYS basically only shaves weights with belt drive, hood, and engine...

--So with simple mods on Cat and a TI can on AXYS your basically even in weight but you still have a 15 lb heavier, solid, reliable, easy to mod engine in the Cat...

Ti can on the Axys drops almost 17 lbs.

Yes, you can get close to the Axys for another $2000, but if you spend that on the Axys too, you will still be 40 lbs behind.

--CO, your are right about the TI can, as I was editing as you posted--AXYS TI quiet
can is 15 lbs lighter

Note

--Engine and exhaust pipe placement is more centralized on Cat which may offset "feel" of additional 15 lb engine weight.
--Bulk of hood weight is farther forward of engine/pipe and in the nose of the sled which has greatest difference in "feel" when
removed/replaced with a lighter setup...

The Axys they weighed had the 3" 163 track with a chaincase and steel drive shaft, which is 5 pounds heavier than the Axys 155 with 3" track and 18 heavier than the 155 with the 2.6" track. I don't see that it says what lug height the stock cat had, was it a 3"?. If you want to do an apples to apples comparison, each of the sleds should have the same length track with the same height lugs (the T3 was a 174 3"). I believe each of the manufacturers made a 163 with a 3" track, and weighing them would be the most fair comparison in my mind.
