Timbersled Upgrade Opinions

Just thought I would get others opinions on what they think the better option is for my yearly upgrade. The main goal is to go LT with only investing another $1-1.5k.

Current setup: CR500 w/ 2013 ST (including 2015 bearing conversion)

Options:

1. Replace my kit with a 2014 or 2015 left over LT for ~$4,700. Is the 2015 actually that much better then the 2014?

2. Buy rail extensions and the C3 or new timbersled 137" track for ~$1k on top of my current setup. Are these new tracks that much better to outweight the flex-arm suspension and heavier springs of the 14/15 kits?

Thanks for the opinions (other then "buy the '16 with TSS"...),
Kell

I was faced with a similar issue except I have a 15 ST kit. Due to the extremely low resale value of my 2015 kit, I decided to buy a new set of rails (not extensions) and the new 137 convex track.

If the market wasn't flooded with low priced 2015 kits I would have upgraded to a 2016 LT.

I love my KX500 on an old kit with a 146x2.5 track. <$1000 upgrade. Lots of opinions on the best track- for deep and steep with trees i love mine but it takes some trottle-induced ski lift to turn up some days

The 2.5 lug track is the biggest improvement you can make. I don't think it worth for you to buy a 14/15, just get a new track for yours. Unless you just go for a new 16'.
Same thoughts. The 2.5R track is quite the mod, lots more traction along with MAJOR increase in trail maners, its 10x the trail gains of the pivoting arm.

If you got a few extra bucks laying around the Raptor triple rate spring update is really nice, lots more plush then the straight rate of the Fox coils and better bottoming resistance.

Thanks for the responses, it sounds like the track upgrade on my current kit is my best bet.

That brings up the next question, are you guys specifically talking about the new T/S track or is the C3 similar in performance? With the Canadian dollar doing so poorly the C3 comes out to about $790 right now, a nice drop from the timbersled option at $900.

Thanks,
Kell

IMO having ridden both, the TS has the advantage in snow that is anything but completely bottomless fluff.

They are almost identical patterning and curve just the TS has large center paddles every other vs every 3rd pitch which helps them hook up far harder when the snow is less then insanely deep. The yeti track works when pure footprint is all that matters. And price does seem a little better but Id be curious what shipping is etc going over the border, Ive sent a lot to canada but never gotten anything sent down this way.

Shipping across the border is no big deal, where you can get beat up is Customs and duty fees.

So would need to find out the info. on duties.

If the track is made in North America there will not be any duty due to NAFTA. You will have to pay taxes based on your provincial or state rates. If you are visiting for over 48 hours you are allowed to bring back up to $800 per person without paying tax.

If you do have to import (ship it) you might get dinged with a customs (brokerage) fee but that's typically only if you are a reseller of commercial goods.

On another note, the C3 track will not fit the TS 15 models hence the main reason I purchased the TS drop brackets and 137 track for my 15 ST.

Well, I settled on the 137" T/S 2.5R track with the WPS 44-1503 extensions.

I hadn't thought about it until now but do I need to get new hyfaxs to accommodate the longer rail length? The pic in the post #25 of the link below seems to be running the ST lengths, maybe a cheap way of "turning up" extension?

I've talked to a number of people who seem to think the TSS comes "with" the 16... keep in mind you can put it on your current setup just like they can put them on the 16's.

Btw, I'm showing the C3 track being $723 shipped to me in CO... hard to beat that.

Would the C3 2.5" track fit on a 15 TS kit with the adapter/drop bracket from Timbersled?

Has anyone had the opportunity to weigh the 137" TS Convex 2.5 and the 137" C3 MAXTRACK 2.5? Curious if one offers a weight savings over the other.

The C3 Max Track 2.5 will work on the 2015 TS kits with the use of our bolt on drop bracket. The one problem that you might run into is the chain rubbing the track paddle depending on chain adjustment location. This is more likely to happen because the track is substantially taller then the stock 2” track in this location.

<O:p</O:pOn the Timbersled Convex 2.5 track there is a notch cut-out for clearance where the chain runs.
