The 2015 BRP e-tec cap(519000273) is an alternative for venting our oil tank. It's a clean install, pulls zero vacuum to open and does not leak when tipped. Used a mighty vac to vacuum test and tipped the sled on its side for 10 min. No leak. Direct replacement, I ordered 5 today. $14.99 retail.

Always on top of things TRS!

How does it vent better than the Poo cap?

It doesn't have a ball in the cap to activate the valve. It is an all new design, it may have been on their '14 also. I was in the shop and saw it on a '15 and thought "I need to investigate this"

Edit: couple benefits, no holes drilled in the tank and no added hoses to mess with. The recesses will surely make removal of those stubborn caps easier.

Sounds good... I'll have to get a few. Did the Geo mod last spring (with a bigger hole than he did) and while I didn't have a problem with the little bit of riding I got after I did it I tipped one on its side in the shop last weekend and it took about 15min to get a dribble to come out. I'm thinking once the oil is engine bay warm it will come out faster.

Hey thanks TRS! I trust you had a good summer. We did turn up the oilier on sons 2013 LE when new, but I have not yet on my 2014. (450 miles now).
What would you suggest for the our 2013, and 2014?
Sent you a PM.

Awesome. I was considering ordering the Paaso Racing cap, but this is a much cheaper alternative. Any idea what mechanism the cap uses for a check valve?

I would be real curious to know how long BRP has been running that cap...

A little research tonight, BRP started using it on 2013 models eliminating the vent hose. I am told this is not the leaky vent cap of old. 10 minutes on its side in a warm shop should attest to that.

Looks like they have been using the cap for quite awhile.

The following is a link to a 2009 600 etec http://www.dannersales.com/fiche_se...Snowmobiles&make=Ski-Doo&year=2009&fveh=26291

What I find interesting is that it still has an additional vent AND check valve. It seems to have been eliminated in the newer sleds though.

I just stumbled across the 2009. I'm sure there are more *earlier* applications...I just didn't check.

Nice find Tony

From what I have been told tonight, they quit sending out replacement tanks with the vent line and moved to this replacement cap.
All I really know is it worked in the shop and I am replacing caps on all 3 of my PROs. If they have been on the '13 and '14 and leaked, I would have heard about it from my riding buddies. Most are in the Doo camp. They are annal about things of that nature.
