What about the Pro makes it handle better than a Dragon?

I was messing around in Photoshop, and I know the A-arms between an IQ and a Pro will interchange. I got to thinking what the differences in rider position actually were. This is what I came up with. So is it just the weight difference?

Weight location, and distribution. We had this discussion late last month i think...but if i recall correctly the engine is mounted noticeably lower in the pro (backward of what i thought/think....remember our discussion). Handlebar rotation plane could play a big part in it as well. Off the top of my head...its late and im tired...ill think more tomorrow...

Angles of the steering posts don't look much different. I wish I could find pictures of both without any of the plastic on, to compare engine locations.

I believe the differences in the rear suspension (lengths and mounting points) play a role as well. Some guys say the IQ gets up on the snow a lot better when swapping in a Pro rear skid.

It's the thinner wallet!

If I could get my trusty 700 in a Pro I'd consider a new ride, but until then I'm staying put.

Copycat. Just cause yours will be done first doesnt mean it wasnt my idea...LOL!

Oh and we decided, the reason he pro handles better is the CBPE. #3 knows what im talking about...

Nice looking setups you have there. Ours will be zuke powered 9's. Catman's a 975 and i will be running a 900 efi for a year before i go bigbore. Im coming off a full-mod-ultra-862 powered IQ, so im hoping the power will be comparable with much better manners than im used to with the mod engine. I'll start a complete build thread when i start. Will be a complete bare chassis build up.

Everything in the rear skid has same mounting location with the exception of the front torque arm. It's 2 inches longer and sets 2 inches back on the rail than an IQ. This has cured the trench tendency

The PRO chassis steering post pivots and does not swing during movement like the Dragon (bigger deal than you may think) ...The engine IS lower... The body panels are narrower. The spindles/geometry are different.... the weight is less... the rider position is different.... the chassis stiffness is better... among other things.

You can get the Dragon to handle a lot better with skid/shocks etc... but you wont approach the nimbleness of the PRO, especially with the BB motor in it.

.

I think the weight difference, and the changes center of gravity/rider position really combine to make the pro so much better. I put a '14 pro skid under my 08 rmk, and the difference was very noticeable. But it still feels heavier and much "clunkier" to throw around when compared to a pro.
