Silber Turbo Install Tips and Troubleshooting guide

This thread is to address problems some folks are having with their 2014 Silber kits but will contain good info for all the other kits as well.

Install tips

Make sure you put the injectors in the right side of the motor. The white wire with a yellow stripe goes to the mag side injector. I also use harness tape to cover the connector and any exposed wires similar to the factory one you are taking off.

Make sure you gut the factory air box.

Make sure your oil pump is plugged into the dc power plug and not the ECM power plug

Triple check all your wires and hoses are secured and will not rub. I use velcro to secure everything.

Gap spark plugs to .018-.020. I use NGK BPR9ES.

Clutching, I set them up with a pink spring, and a red in the heel, and red with a thin washer in the middle and tip. I run the 44/48 side of the helix as well.

Boost, I run 8-10 pounds from 8000-11500 in Colorado on 25% 110 VP / 91 Pump.

The sleds that I have done are stock 2011-2014 Pro's. By stock I mean just that. No different track, gearing or anything else.

Double up y-pipe springs and ensure exhaust donuts are good.

Flashing the ECU. This only applies to the folks with 2013's that did not send their ECU's in to Justin. Menu>Install Tuning>Accept disclaimers>Install Custom tune to vehicle>Select newpro21.atv>It will tell you its complete and to cycle the power if it worked correctly. If you mailed it in it was shipped to you ready to run.

I will work on troubleshooting tips today.

If you are having a problem copy the following, Fill it out and PM me. Please be honest or we may never be able to resolve the issue. We had one guy put a BB on and didn't say anything because he didn't think that was his issue. I need all the info.

When were the power valves cleaned last:
Did you flash the ECU with the BD or was is shipped to you flashed:
Is the check engine light on:
Any pre existing conditions:

Detailed description of the problem. Videos are awesome.

I am going to correlate the data and try to get something figured out.

Don't forget that you need to flash the ECU while the sled is NOT running with a battery. I used a 12v small motorcycle battery. The file should be on the card. It has an .atv file extension, not to be confused with an All Terrain Vehicle.

I heated up the little tabs on the air horns under the hood to get them off. They were more pliable that way.

Just a reminder. If you call me yelling, screaming or threatening this and that don't be surprised if I tell you to talk to the person you bought the kit from or to just get lost. I got a call at 4am from a guy threatening to sue me because the kit didn't work on his big bore and he burned it down.....best part is he wants to sue me for a kit I didn't even sell him.

I understand it can be frustrating to have something not work properly but I assure it will get fixed quicker with a good attitude all around:face-icon-small-coo

Dan, its the nature of the beast, and NO you cant hang up on them or tell them to call someone else. Your the bullseye when you become a part of the TEAM.

Makes you wish you had a magic wand to end the users issues. good for you posting the basics to these fellows. With bullydog involved you get a really good product but like anything man makes. IT will have some issues sometimes..good luck Dan.

When you mention having the injectors on the right side are you saying the injectors are different in the bully dog kit from side to side, or is it just the wiring I have to make sure is correct like the yellow wire being on the mag side? I'm having it bog then go into det after 5 seconds of wide open running with 7psi and 75% race gas. Clean valves, I'm running the blue sensor, 20 thou gap on the plugs, gutted air box. Its definatly not over reving either. 2014 assault 800.
thanks for any advice!

It seems like there are a rich spots on the map and most sleds pull through them without getting a bog and others bog. This would also give a plausible explanation to the random nature of the bog and why it only seems to affect some sleds and not others. We are looking into it and I will let you guys know when we get something figured out.

Hey i also installed the 2 thin washers to the outer red bolts in clutch weights and now i can only pull 8000. Think i should go back to just the red bolts alone when i was pulling 8200?

I wonder if the sleds that have the bog have a slightly higher fuel pressure than the ones that don't. That was a pretty widespread problem with the older AC 700's, stock fuel regulators had a pressure range of about 3 or 4psi that was within spec but they wouldn't run right without an adjustable regulator setting the pressure at the low end of the pressure range. Just a thought.

Will do Cory. Thanks. The post above is a good possibility.

I removed the boost controller to manually set the wastegate lower but without success. Now i cant really remember what the "stock" setting is on the wastegate. :frusty:

So what id like to know is how many mm it is on the wastegate rod on stock setting. Going to plug in the boost controller again cos im going to run 100LL from now on!

Its a kPa 2863b turbo.

Boston Racing you think you can get this information for me or should i look elsewhere?

Thanks in advance!

I set the wastegate to have 1/8 inch of tension. If you screw it in until half the hole is covered by the pin and then have to pull it over the pin you are good.

Flashing ecu

i need to flash my ecu, didnt send it in to silber.

I get asked for a serial number during the flashing process, what serial is that?

Just put a silber turbo on

Hey man great post. I just put a silber turbo in yesterday. My sled seems to be running good except a little doggy on bottom end but I suppose I just have to build boost and if I hold it wide open to long it cuts out is this normal.
