I feel like modding a 600 is like being the smartest kid with down syndrome.
600 or 800? Well let me tell you, when I decided to turbo my 600 pro, a friend of mine sells the Silber kits. He tells me Silber does no make a 600 kit. He always wanted to turbo a 600. so mine was the 1st silber 600 turbo pro done in canada/usa.(so Ive been told) This combo works extremely well, well enough he is now a converted 600 rider/dealer.Some sledders in Mcbride that has seen my sled perform would flat out not believe its a 600.
I am extremely happy with my set up plus the 600 is extremely smooth and much much more RELIABLE than the 800.I dont want to blow my horn here. you can ask
BrianD (previous post and riding partner) on how it performs if you wish.
What changes if any had to be made to the silber kit to work? What year 600 and what year kit?
Sled is 2012 pro 600 rmk 155
2013 shorty seat (a must have)
The turbo kit is basically a 2013 Silber pro 800 kit with 2012 electrical connectors on it .
Install was easy until it came to install the turbo on final fitment.brass fitting on the turbo hits the coolant housing. (800 is on the centre of head, 600 is on chaincase side of the head.) The fitting on the turbo hosing is very close to the head coolant housing. Loosining the bolts with slight rotation of turbo housing, now clears.
Only slight adjustment on fuel controller was needed.
I believe team adjustable set at 68.3gr. ( near over rev at 7200 ft)
would be perfect at 69-70 gr. @ 8400 rpm. Fuel is LL100 max@ 9-10 lbs.
Will be running Fury 108 @10-12 lbs this year. Did a test at 10lbs once and lost power with det enguaging with LL100.
that's interesting hitting DET on 10lbs. im taking off from the truck at around 8psi at around 5500ft then the ebc raises to compensate for altitude. highest i saw was around 13 at around 9000-9500 ft. iirc im throwing 68g of weight as well, pulling around 8100-8200 rpm. so far i havent hit DET, not even once. straight 100LL
Could it be he's hitting 8400 rpm very close to the rev limiter, and det is popping up on the gauge?
I would stick with the 800. I had both a turbo 600 and then a 660. They both ran great but it really doesn't run like the 800. You have to ride them around at full throttle all the time and while they are smoother than the 800 they just don't have the low end. The reason I did the 660 was to try and get it to have that grunt but it didn't really help.
