Is a 2012 better than a 2013?

As I sold the cat and going to a pro; wondering if a 12 would have less issues than a 13.

or ride with some Ski Doos and learn a few tricks :face-icon-small-ton

The ski doo guys I ride with change brands every year...first they are die hard polaris for numerous years; then jump to ski doo and say "i'm never going back..." Then the ring leader buys a pro and raves about how awesome the pro is, and the rest of his cronies jump ship to the pro...now the ring leader is back to ski doo raving about the t motion track, and what happens? All his cronies jump ship back to ski doo.

bwahahaha! As I think of this it is all true! :)

Noticeable difference in performance between a 13 and 12. No its not just the belt it is something in the mapping. The belt is an issue. Personally I would find a 13 rmk and put a good set of shocks on it and you have a killer sled. There have been less reported motor failures on the 13s I would say but this is the year you would really see them so dont know for sure. I think they made some good improvements to the motor.

Go with the 13 hands down. Ride with lots of guys who ride the 13 pro (including myself) not one issue and out perform the 12's easily. I have own an 11 and two 12's and now its my second year on the 13 and it's by far been the best sled. But one thing about it whatever year u buy you'll love it, the pro's are just fun to ride, I don't care what anyone says. They just flat out work.

the 13 is better in every way than the 12 which was better than the 11,the problems wit the 13s are being exaggerated. although you would be happy with either

My '13 seems to have better snap than my '11 (I know you are asking about the '12). The boards are amazing and I like the belt drive. It got bad press because some belts went. But the number was low for the amount of sleds sold. I talked to Chris Burandt last Friday and he told me he lost 6 belts all year with 25 sleds. Those sleds are used like rental sleds getting a ton of usage.

Bottom line, I would buy a '13 again in a snap.

2012 or 2013 Pro

I had a 2011 Pro and now a 2013 Pro 155 the belt drive is awesome 2200 miles so far the 013 & 014 cylinders have been beefed up in the skirt area part of this whole fix it kit you read about. My buddy's all ride etec's and one of them blew his up last year when we were riding he just made 5000 miles the C -clip failed took the cylinder out.

I have an 11, 12, and a 13, and without a doubt, the 13 is way snappier. All of the changes that they made may be small by themselves, but they make an impact that is definitely felt.

Interesting because his assistants claim they were losing belts constantly. Always packing several spares etc... Someone isn't giving the whole story!

Everyone i know (12 people that I can count maybe more) with a 13 that rides hard had at least one belt go if not more. The issues may have been exaggerated but there was definitely an issue. I would do a 13 hands down over a 12 but If I was spending my hard earned cash and didn't want to worry I would do a assault or rmk with chain case.

I really truly hope polaris has the belts figured out tho because I think its a good idea. Just has to be reliable before I will go back to it. I am so happy to be on a 14 assault and not have to deal with it this season.

Well you know what they say, get it from the horse's mouth. I asked CB if he was going to chain cases and he said, "Nope, I like what I gain with the belt drive".

By the way, I have lost one belt on a really bad landing (also bent the rails). My dealer took care of it that night under warranty. I also lost my chain case in my '11 Pro. Had to disassemble 35 miles out and get towed in with no brakes. I wished I had a belt drive at that moment. Carrying an extra belt seems a lot easier to me.

Hands down the 13 is a more refined sled... lighter, excellent running boards, seat, engine improvements... If you dont like the QuickDrive... My thoughts on the Standard RMK Vs. The Pro....

BTW... The 14 is more refined than the 13 (:wink)

.

If I haven't found a low mile 13 (155 track) by mid January, may have to check into a 14. Isn't January also the month that the pricing starts to drop?

Bob- I will have a 2013 Pro 800 163" for sale on January 6th and it will probably have around 150-200 miles on it...so keep me in mind if you don't find one that peaks your interest in the meantime! Bought it for my father to ride over the Holidays and then it'll be for sale;)

I feel it depends how hard you ride, and how much crap you thnk you will hit. Polaris cant keep the carbon fibre from pulling out of the aluminum. weather its the a-arms or the overstructure. 12's are stronger, weigh a bit more and they're by no means bulletproof either but glue will not hold carbon into aluminum on a hard hit.

oh and polaris warranting any is like pulling teeth
