MBMS/BLIJAS 2014 M8000 162" Sno Pro Builds

Hi everyone. We figured Sept 1st would be a good day to kick off a new build thread.

We are really excited about the 2014 mountain sleds from Arctic Cat. After experiencing the amazing improvement from 2012-2013 we think the 2014 models with the right modifications are going to put the fun factor at a 10+!!!

We spent quite a bit of time on several 2013 M8s with SLP stage III performance edition packages and also got to ride the BD-X pro lite a bit last year. After riding those sleds we decided using a combination of the SLP engine package and BD-X lightweight parts on the 2014 models would be a great combo. This sled is Jason's (BLIJAS) personal sled and we will chronicle the build here on snowest. With the added power and approximately 45lb weight loss should be awesome.

Planned mods:
SLP Porting
Single Pipe
PCV
Clutching
SLP Powder Pro skis
BD-X cold air intake w/headlight delete
BD-X front end a-arms and spindles
BD-X Chrome moly rear suspension arms
BD-X oil delete w/ chain case cover

some other items still being decided on.

Thanks
Woody

BD-X Cold Air Intake w/ Headlight Delete

Hi all, tonight we worked on the cold air intake with headlight delete. The stock hood weighed 21lbs and 11lbs after install. Exactly 10lbs as advertised. We changed several things up on the install and will discuss in the photos. First thing was mock up trying to decide on W/S color. Will have to get the A-Arms and spindles on to make final decision.

Windshields just sitting on there:

Intake temp sensor installed in air boot:

The following photos are showing the windshield and gauge install. We are going to be running a tether on this so we don't need the harness for the ignition and we don't have a wrap to cover any existing holes in the windshield. We modified the gauge bracket to move the mounting forward. This is going to allow us to use the stock windshield mounting holes in the very front. We drilled a hole in the center hood so we can hook up the speedo. This routing is going to clean up the harness and we believe we will be able to reach the air intake sensor without having to modify the harness. We will post pictures when we finalize the routing.

Next up BD-X Rear Arms:

If you could get your hands on some black side panels, I think a black winidshield and black side panels would make that thing look wicked!

Are the two round intakes behind the windshield part of the kit, or something you added? Looks good for sure! Gives me an idea of what my green prolite will look like as they build it.

I've used the BDX rear skid on a previous build, very happy with it. Let us know how much weight saving you get with it. I have the same sled in 153 coming and was thinking of giving it the BDX treatment too. Now I can see it before I do it. Thanks for showing the step by step build on this sled. It will definately help me decide on what to do with mine. I'm anxious to find out if the new 2014 cat hard ware is compatable with that rear skid.

I LOVE THE WHITE! I will be doing white accent all around, I have the same sled. Bumper, b&m boards, maybe rear bumper?!?!

We are waiting on parts so we worked on cleaning up the harness a bit. Much of the harness is stored under the stock headlight pod up high for the headlights and key switch etc. Since we are running a tether and no lights we wanted to change that up a bit and get as clean a look as possible.

We really are building a sled...but right now it just looks like we are taking one apart.

I like the white windshield option better than the black.

also watch out for that main harness near the jackshaft. I clipped mine down wrong last year and almost shorted it out from rubbing.
