Weighed the 2013 PRO today- REAL weight 16lbs lighter

We had a 2013 PRO 155" in the store this week and put it on the scales. It came in 16lbs lighter than the 2012. This sled is a demo and has 700 miles in it.

We weigh sleds "wet" which means full of antifreeze, oil reservoir topped off and chaincase fluid(which there is non on the 2013 PRO). The gas tank is completely drained.

The weights below were all measured on our scales(Longacre Racing Products computer scales) and these are "wet" weights. All sleds were new and assembled out of the crate, except for the 2013 PRO which has 700 miles on it.

2013 PRO 155" 438 lbs
2012 PRO 155" 454 lbs
2012 M8 153" 496 lbs
2012 ETEC 800 154" 501 lbs
 
Does anybody else think that weight is freakin crazy!?!?! 438 lbs without gas!?!!? We are seriously talking a 60 POUND DIFFERENCE and the DOO gained some weight for '13!!!!

The '13 Pro full of gas will be about the same weight as the Doo empty... Incredible.

Now if only Poo got Suzuki to build them an 800 motor they'd be set...

New goal for 2013. 0.537 HP per pound. That would be wet weight with fuel ready to ride. 250HP/465LBS. Too lofty of a goal? Get it done under $25K?
 
08 and 09 xps are around 438 too.must be some reason they went heavier.

That would pretty much be the etec system that added it, eh? The taller, non ported track would have contributed too. So to give you the answer you were fishing for, the things that added weight added performance and in the case of the etec, gave them cleaner emissions. Crap, I just fed the troll.

Well, if you figure it's okay to add a bunch of weight if it increases HP and cleaner emissions you can go ride a Yammi, eh?

On the bold agreed.

And since A/C wants to build their own (fatal mistake as they'll realize years later down the road) and Polaris would swallow some of their pride.....................................
 
Add a HPS can and loose another 7 pounds and it gets even lighter. (that is what the dealer said around here.)
There is well over 1000 miles I bet on that sled after this weekend, I probably rode that one on Wednesday this week, fun sled.

A gallon of gas weighs 6.02 lbs. per gallon (unless this is wrong)

A polaris pro has a 11.5 gal tank (11.5 x 6.02 = 69.23 lbs)

Your wet weight is 438 lbs does that mean dry weight is 368.77 lbs less coolant and oil.

Read above again. Wet in this formula = all required fluids MINUS fuel. Empty fuel tank

I think you missed it in the first post. They weighed them full of coolant, oil, chaincase fluid. All the fuel tanks are empty. Wet, no gas. Jesse.

No, but using your 6.2 lb per gallon, that comes out to 509.3 with ALL fluids at the beginning of the day. That's pretty sweet!
