I have been hearing alot of complaining of the weight of these new 4 strokes. When I added a turbo to a 2010 M8 it added about 58 pounds to the sled. So we know that the 1100T is roughly 80 pounds more than a M8 stock. So what I am getting at is for this kind of horsepower the weight is not going to be a deal breaker I don't feel, especially where they have this engine sitting in the chassis.

Just my two cents, but I think this new turbo, for an out of the box sled, is going to rock.

Interesting. In speaking to several turbo vendors last fall at the SLC snowmobile show I was told to expect about 30-35 pounds to be added.

Who's kit do you have installed?
Do you have an intercooler?

I was told that it was about 10 extra from stock for my kit. And I know its not 55 cause the whole thing wouldnt weight that much and theres a bunch of stock junk that hits the trash.

I think you're taking the shipped weight of your kit without taking into consideration the stock stuff that silvercat mentioned.

can gone, plenum gone, airbox gone... boost adds weight for sure,but it does replace some other stuff.

if it's a 58 lb kit, I'd guess you're actually adding 25 or so lbs? (guessing here)

I know a BD kit says "shipped weight of 65", but it adds nowhere near that.

the turbo and cooler with all the hardware was around 65 pounds. I couldn't believe it was this much but afraid the scale wouldn't lie. Expected different results myself. Maybe I bought the wrong brand? Has anyone else actually weighed before and after, not just what some salesman told them?

I would never have guessed 65 pounds, is that with a intercooler. I would have thought closer to 35 or 40 at tops.

65lbs? On a 2010 M8 stock, A boondocker pump gas kit w/o the intercooler will add maybe 15lbs. you subtract
-22 lbs muffler
-12 lbs intake, hood pieces and nose box

Erik at vohk told me its a wash? you dont hardly gain anyweight, but he is removing headlights, smaller windshield etc. I think +15 lbs is max

560 / 470 = 1.19 or 19% more weight
177 / 125 = 1.41 or 41% more power at 10,000 feet
That seems like a pretty good deal if you are looking for more power, and want to actually ride the thing instead of constantly fixing it.

As for where the weight comes from, here's a guess:
800 to 1000 added 19 lbs.
1000 to 1100 probably adds 10 lbs then?
So 30 pounds for extra displacement.

It has a valve train, 20 lbs probably.

It has a battery, 10 lbs or something.

A starter, 15 pounds.

A Turbo and intercooler 15 lbs.

I probably just found 90 lbs of either stuff you can't avoid, or don't want to avoid. Frankly I've had to roll my sled and end up pulling on the damn starter rope 10 to 15 times to unflood and start the thing that I'm ready for electric start.

according to a arctic cat insider i know the weight of the m1100 turbo will be close to 560 lbs dry

560 lbs shipped weight and 180 hp stock....add a chip/can of your choice and its 225+ hp and 550 lbsor less...thats pretty good numbers for that kinda of power/reliability...BJ

hey ski-doo heres a timeline to match cats...

2009 = NA 1200
2010 = supercharged 1200 Mach Z (basically same package from sea-doos)
2011 = SC1200 163 Summit X

I think we will know more after all of the shows and final production pieces have been put in place. Also,, you know that the after market has or will soon be getting some of these sleds to work with for some light parts especially for the 4s,

a rep at the west yellowstone expo told us that the new proclimb 800 is within 5 lbs of last years m8 and depending which rep we talked to we was told the 1100T is 60-75lbs heavier than the 800. i dont know exactly what last years m8 weighed to do the math, but one rep said the 1100T should be in the 530-535lb range. if it is 60-75 lbs heavier, from what i saw just removing the can should make up half of that. the can on the 1100T is HUGE, fills the hole right side when you open the side panel thats all you see.

There looks to be Alot of weight savings in the muffler alone, I watched a Utube vid and the silencer looks huge. But As Big John said above And I agree The power to weight at 10000 ft looks good. This of Coarse Coming From a dumb Flatlander
