Storm Stories Sparwood Avy

Just watching Storm Stories on TWC. Doing a show on the Sparwood Avy from last year....I thought I would only cry last year when it was fresh.

Turns out I still can not imagine digging a guy out and having to leave him due to another slide as he yells not to leave. Or leaving 8 others behind.

Let's be safe and smart this year everyone.

Really who cares if snowest is dieing or some mod pissed ya off, it's getting to be winter, let's start talking about what really matters making it home off the hill with everyone.

I have most of it recorded on the dvr, glad i flipped through and had a chance to watch. very moving, prayers for all impacted that day!
 
I would really like to see this!!!!! Is it online anywhere (I don't have cable)? Just thinking about that event gets me choked up. :(

I don't see it.....yet anyway.....I'll keep looking around. Thanks for the thread, and link. :) Hopefully I can find this.......there is always something to be learned from this. I wish I would NEVER hear of another avy death, but that just won't be the case. :( Learning, and helping to inform others on this extremely important topic helps us all.
 
Thanks X for the links......at least I got to see part of it. That did make me cry. What a horrible decision to have to make! :face-icon-small-sad

I hadn't heard before that they were at the end of their day, had decided to go home because of conditions out there, and one last stuck. Completely heartwrenching! :brokenheart:

No kidding, everything was done right for them and still they got hit.

I remember I watched those news clips at work last year not knowing what I would see....had to get up and pretend to go hit the john so nobody would see me cry.
 
Does anyone know if this is going to be on again? If so, when? I'd like to see it in it's entirety. I'd like to either get a copy, or go watch it with someone that does have cable.
 
I would like to see the whole thing too. There are a ton of clips, you can just about watch it all going through the clips.

I don't know if I could leave. I hope I never have to face something like this. But I have to face the fact that I could quite easily be in a situation such as this. That is one reason I bought an avy pack from BCA this year.

holy ****..................................my whole body just cringed when i read that part. ****....... i dont think i could ever EVER live on..... that thought of my best freind screaming and stuck in the snow and having to leave him.....i cat even explain how that would effect me, or how the thought of having to do that, that really bothers me....

and for that reason I would ride with you! I remember telling my wife about this avy after watching those clips last year....I started crying just telling her about those guys having to run for safety.

We can't record on DVD only our DVR. How can I record this for some friends?
 
It is on right. So incredible. Be prepared and have the tools to stay alive. make good decisions. Know the conditions before you go out and before you go into an area make sure its safe. If it is questionable stay away. The smallest hills can slide. None of us want to hear of a friend killed or even buried. Please all be safe. Use your brains it is your best tool
 
Thing is these guys were playing it save. You just never know. This tragedy will forever be remembered. It has changed me even before today.

Ride safe, ride smart, be prepared.
