Ain't seen nothing yet. New welfare, oops health care bill is 1502 pages long. Unlikely to get passed in anything near its current form but has anything that's ever came out of Congress that's remotely close to that length ever saved the people that actually pay taxes money? Sounds like a good way to meddle in peoples lives.

If you are dependant on the government, you will vote for who ever offers you the most benefits.

If you aren't dependant on the government, you will vote for who ever you think will run the country for your benifit, not theirs.

Given the 2 options, the feds will do everything they can to get as many people on the dole as possible.

This has been a pet peeve for about 5 years or more now of ours here in Ak. The cell phone providers have been offering free phone with unlimited minutes AND texting for $1 a month to basically anyone who is elligble for food stamps. I do know an ex coworker that quit his pt job where I work to take a pretty decent ft job elsewhere. Should him whine when he lost all of his subsidized ways of living. Phones,food stamps, housing assistance ect.... says he had more spending money when he worked half the hours at half the wages.... the sad part is I beleive him! Too many people have got this figured out and take total advantage of this. Time to change the system back to where you make money money working than sitting on your a$$.

Agreed, once upon a time when a person didn't work he/she had a natural consequence...not these days! Idaho's welfare is as liberal as it comes...makes me sick! At one time if a single person that has no kids came in for food stamps...they required them to do a work search and training program. Guess what, not anymore! Now, they get their food stamps with no requirement to look for work! Give em their benies so they can sit at home smoking a bowl and play X-Box.

Idaho also recently got rid of resource rules...meaning as long as a person doesn't have consistent income they can qualify for all kinds of welfare. If a person doesn't have a job, but has a million dollar home, a Lexus, a Hummer, and 5 million dollars sitting in a bank account they can get the full amount of food stamps. Everything I mentioned is a resource and it is not an income. Idaho only counts income now.

It is also about our work ethic and lack of morality. Each generation gets lazier and lazier. Kids don't have to do what I did as a kid these days.

Agreed. As a kid growing up in Mn I was fired as was everyone that worked at that paticular gas station when we our manager got fired and they replaced the entire personel there. I went to go file for unemployment. Before I could, I was REQUIRED to register with job service next door. Long story short, I went to work the next day with a better job! That is how it should work. Unemployement/welfare is great and fine for those who TRUELY NEED IT! My father had an idea 40 years ago that he believed strongly in, and I still do today. All those who are on some kind of public assistance should do some kind of public service work. Whether it be picking trash or painting ect.. Thsoe who truely need the handout will feel they have EARNED IT. Those who think this is beneath them, will GET A JOB instead!!! What a concept. Ok, off my soapbox.

Back in the sixties I was dating a girl who lived in Buffalo NY and I remember being downtown on welfare days. They had to go to the unemployment office to get welfare checks, The parking spaces were full of Cadillacs for blocks each way.
You guys are right, these days handouts immediately become entitlements.

ACTUALLY they should make it WORKFARE, no work=no check, along with that the govt. could subsidize low income jobs currently being taken up by illegals. Subsidize the wage so the employer and the employee win, I would rather tax dollars go to subsidizing US citizens that are working than to paying people NOT to work.
