snow at that altitude is worthless... you cant access it for snowmobiling anyways...

too bad its not colder... 4 feet of snow at 5000 feet would be awesome for october!

Yes it would be nice.

Looks like SLC will be hit with some good rain the next few hours.

It's snowing at 8000 feet with about an inch on the ground. There is six inches at Main Lodge, 9000 feet, and the San Joaquin Ridge goes up to 10250'.

After all is said and done we should be skiing/sledding by the weekend.

I think this will melt or get rained away below 9000 feet the next week or so.

Ride it while you got it.

did i see that the sierra nevada range had reported 12" of rain in some places? Incredible! I would love to see some of the creeks and waterfalls right now, i bet they are just raging! :D

I was working yesterday, last night and for the next 24hrs. We had snow level of 6500 yesterday with 10" at the Mt Rose ski resort lodge. Real wet snow. Ran 10 calls to rollovers and sent 5 to the hospital. I am sure the snow will be gone by wed or thurs but it was nice to see the white stuff again. Winds right now are 30-40 sustained with the highest gust at 84mph at our station on mt rose hwy. It rained all day and we had to sandbag around one house because the stream flooded and was washing under the house. I hope these storms back up back to back all winter long. Yahoo bring on the winter!!

6 inches of rained on slop here in town. The Mammoth Mountain is opening Friday and they are claiming 3-4 feet at mid-chalet (9630') and 4-5 feet on the upper mountain (11053').

I'm actually glad I am not picking my sled up until next week because I know I would ride it and break it for sure.

That said we have a great base for the season. Skiing on Friday morning, mountain biking after lunch, and get the evening hatch on the Upper O makes for a great day.

You're kidding right? I like to Unload at 9,000 and go up from there.
I hardly ever ride below 8,000.

It is all relative when you have access and cn ride.

For instance Mammoth Lakes has most riding above 8,000 feet and can go to areas above 10000

Most of the Sierra mountain range is accessed by roads going thru passes and you must unload where the road closed sign is located.
