I thought I would start this old debate, I did a couple searches and found information mostly pertaining to modded sleds and four stroke turbos. I would like to know whos running what fuel and at what boost level and why? Is there a reason why some prefer low lead 100 to leaded c10? Thanks in advance for any info.

For most its cost or availability ..

both a good choices and both work well for moderate boost and moderate coolant temps.

I love avgas, its just getting very hard to get as the small airports are getting few and far between here in new hampster.

It depends on your elevation. 10 lbs at sea-level, I would run 100% 108-114 just to be safe, but I'm more of an err on the side of safety. However, your M8 should have a detonation-sensor, so you can certianly try it, and your sled will let you know if you have premature detonation. At 10,000 feet, you could probably get away with running straight 91-pump gas, but I'd still watch the det-sensor.
I've always been told that av-gas is ok for mild compression increases, but really, if you're looking for the best option for high-intensity applications such as turbo-charging an engine, you should look to race fuel, not av-gas. I don't really know if it's in the formulation or what, but I've lived by it, and I've never melted a turbo down.

matty mac was saying somthing about avgas is rated different than race gas a automobile fuel and that av gas on the same rating as 110 was hotter that 110 by a few octane...if i remember right?

This is exactly the question I was just pondering. My main company is located on a little airport here in BC, and I just purchased my first Turbo M8 and I was wondering if the AVgas would be a good option for 10LBS boost.

Thanks

R U using a pump gas or a race gas??? who's kit? If it is a race gas kit I find it hard to believe that you will beable to leave it down at 10 pounds of boost. Some punk *** will come bye and poke a line 50 feet above yah. you will lift your hood crank it up to 14 forgetting you are cheeping out with your fuel and ...............KABOOM

Why when you spend so much money on a sled and turbo would you stop short on the fuel:confused:

You guys that are running AV gas how often do you have to change your plugs, reason beeing is that i ran av gas for a little bit in a 4 stroke side by side and the plugs were very dirty after 100 miles (lots of lead build up) and i noticed a loss in performance, what have you seen
