Whats a good sled for a women learn to ride on?

I was asked the other day whats a good sled to get for a women who has never rode and wants to learn? Prefere Mountain sled I was thinking a 440 race sled longtracked would be idea or maybe a skidoo summit 550F? What you all think?

sled

My wifes favorite is the XP 600 E-Tec 146.
Easy to ride, Easy to start, fun to jump, quiet, good power, goes a long way on a tank of gas.
Previous sleds were 2 M-7s, Dragon 700, RMK Edge 700, IQR 600 Mt..

I like that idea a 600. good back up buddy sled too. My thinking is just like my 5 yr old with motocross get something they think is cool and they will think there on best sled and ride good. So example put pink on whatever she gets just some ideas. Is my idea bout longtracking a 440 race sled bad?

so if I found her a clean 06 summit 600 144 or 151 for example and did some light weight work for her it would be ok? I think E start is ideal but I dont want her being lazy with it and when she gets on my 800 or 1000 complain she cant start it. Is that a bad idea too?

Old school Phazers are good starter sleds... light but peppy.

my girlfriend started out on a a rev 600 w/ a 151x2 track, didnt ride awhole lot the first year only 3 or 4 times (had to work weekends) but after last year putting on 1200+ miles she is more than ready to move up to a better sled. will have her on either a D7 or D8 this year depending on what we can find. She likes the feel of the raw chassis over the rev for the nimbleness and the ease to tip it on its side and carve. CANT WAIT FOR THIS SEASON TO START!

I spent a day on a RMK600 and I rode like a girl!

If you are going to "teach" her in the mtns and do alot of boondocking stay away from the race sleds even with a bigger track. The 440 motor to begin with is an on/off switch. Not much inbetween. That alone makes it real tough for a novice to learn on unless she is an aggressive bike or quad rider already. I would put her on a real mtn sled and stay away from the fans. Great for kids or starting out, but she will out grow it very quickly. The bigger motors also allow her to slow down for a nasty bump or whatever and have enough grunt to jump back up on top of the snow again without having to keep it pinned in something she is not ready for. With that said, a 600 rmk 155 is an amazing sled with a bullet proof motor. As is a d8. Or switch flavors to a m7 or m8. They would be much better for her to learn on in the mtns over a long tracked race sled imo...

There were VERY FEW of those to be seen around here last winter.
I wonder if there are any leftover 2009's that you could score a deal on?

I never really thought my wife was going to get into sleding

Took her out a few times this spring on the old prowler listed below.

After 2-3 rides it was clear prety quick the girl had the heart to ride !

You can see what she has now............Should be a real hoot to see her ride that for the first time !

Bottom line, sleds are like guns. You dont choose the gun for her, she picks what works for her. I'm partial to the handeling of a cat. Even a 700 class motor at 110 Lbs, she can start it.

M-6 153 is a great ladies or kids sled. Plus it will for the most part take her anywhere she wants to go after she is more comfortable riding. Can't go wrong!

I have a 05 M-7 and 07 M-8 when we take some body with us that has never rode before we put them on the M-7 by far! a very easy Sled to ride and easy to learn on. any one can ride this sled very well balanced easy to move around. very reliable, runs all day on a tank of gas and a great sled for ladies, they are so easy to side hill. Enough power to keep up, I don’t think you’ll need Electric start? That is up to you. They start on the second pull very easy sled. above all keep her warm and dry. Don’t go cheap buy her very good boots and clothing.
