"Joe Legal" works in construction, has a Social Security Number, and makes $25.00 per hour with payroll taxes deducted...."

Jose Illegal" also works in construction, has "NO" Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 cash "under the table".

Joe Legal...$25.00 per hour x 40 hours $1000.00 per week, $52,000 per year

Now take 30% away for state federal tax

Joe Legal now has $36,400.00


Jose Illegal...$15.00 per hour x 40 hours $600.00 per week, $31,200.00 per year

Jose Illegal pays no taxes...

Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00


Joe Legal pays Medical and Dental Insurance with limited coverage

I dont see where education was being discussed in this scenario, nor was literacy or language. I think you missed the point.
BTW - I'm just a dumb carpenter, but I'd like to see you come do my job since ANYONE can do it. All that education and my guess is you wouldn't last one day on my jobsite.

It appears you are missing the point...there are so many things wrong with your statement, it would be to hard to address all, so here is on key point...Joe illegal is an ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT, that IS NOT PAYING HIS TAXES!!!

The difference is, my immigrant relatives came through Ellis Island LEGALLY and they did everything legally to become US citizens, they paid taxes, they supported their family without help from the government, they flew the US Flag, they didn't have the option to "press 2 to continue in Italian as they LEARNED THE ****IN' ENGLISH language to communicate.

Unfortunately there are companies out there that will hire an illiterate, uneducated worker over an educated one so they can pay them less, those companies ought to be hammered for doing it. There needs to be a way that the only people that can be hired are those that are legal to be employed in the US.

Just a good old fashioned high school diploma for me. I guess my mom and dad payed for it. I dont think 'Jose" would be much competition for my job. I would never knowingly hire an illegal, because that would but my business at risk. We could fix the economy, we just need the right people to do it. The ones trying to fix it now, are the same ones who broke it.

ok who let this guy join?! that is the dumbest thing ive ever heard. educated construction works built the building your in right now, imagine that being built by some border jumper that can barely speak his own name...i know i sure as he!! wouldnt be in that building. just cause the guy makes 25/hr and works outside bustin balls and gets sweaty and dirty doesnt make him some noneducated piece of crap. he could probably walk circles around you book smart a$$ on day to day life. if our government was run by us normal working class joes that can acutally think logically then i think we'd be way better off!!! about going to mexico to fix their problems that would be a mistake we can barley fix our own dang problems!

I know not all construction workers are uneducated pieces of crap. But if an illegal alien that cants speak english, read, write, or do math can take your job, then your job is to easy. Jobs like janitors, fieldworkers, ect are meant for people with not even a highschool education. Im not even talking about a college degree. Just a GED should give you an advantage over most illegals. I agree that the government should be run by working class joes, and not career politicians, that is what a democracy really IS. Going to Mexico would not be as big of a mistake as going to Iraq, or Pakistan, or Afghanistan ect.
