Great idea but I am pretty sure it is illegal unless you are a non profit organization and apply for a permit first.

Probably something to check into, never thought of this before. on another note why would it be illegal? people are buying knowing full well they will probably lose...

In Oregon it is illegal if you are not a non-profit, I can't find laws for Utah but I think it's the same.

Montana says: Legal live games include: raffles, bingo, keno, panguingue, poker and shake-a-day. Sports pools, fantasy sports leagues and sports tab games are also legal. These are non-banking games in which players bet against and settle with each other rather than betting against and settling with the house.
The legal age for gambling in Montana is 18, with the exception of raffles conducted by churches, schools, charitable and nonprofit organizations. Children under 18 years old may participate in these.

The PayPal account may be an issue as it is allowing player to gamble on credit.

So you could let Jim or one of the Thunderstruck crew hold the raffle in Montana while you manage it from Oregon or you could possibly have CBU, Blue Ribbon or SAWS hold the raffle in Oregon and then they would purchase the sled from your Dealership after the raffle was completed, keeping the excess for their organization.

It's a good idea you have, just figure out how to legally do it. Being a business you have a lot to lose if the government doesn't like your idea.

why are you getting rid of the sled?

raffles with out dates have always scared me. If you don't sell enough tickets when would the refund happen? What is the exact number of tickets that need to be sold to make the raffle go. is there a date that cancels the raffle if not enough tickets get sold?

sorry to ask the questions but these are answers that might make more people jump on board.
