IDAHO is stealing money from snowmobile programs to fund road repairs.

Sent a friendly note to Crapo, Simpson, Risch, Andrus.....I think that's it for now. Going to forward the email alert I got also.

I strongly oppose using Idaho Parks and Recreation gas tax funds to fund highways. This will cause great harm to Idaho Recreation.

Sincerely,

Dear Mitch,

Thank you for contacting me about House Bill 376. I appreciate the opportunity to respond.

House Bill 376 removes the 5 percent that Idaho State Police (ISP) and the 3 percent that the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation (Parks and Recreation) receive from Idaho’s 25-cents-per-gallon fuel tax. This bill shifts the ISP and Parks and Recreation shares of funding to the State Highway Account for roads.

In addition, this legislation creates a legislative task force that will look at finding alternative funding, to replace fuel tax revenues for these agencies. The findings of the legislative task force, including possible legislation for alternative funding, will be considered during the 2010 legislative session.

My office, along with ISP and the Parks and Recreation Board, will work diligently with the legislative task force to develop and secure alternative funding.

With approval of this legislation, we are making a reasonable start toward addressing the ongoing need for funding to preserve and maintain Idaho’s $16 billion transportation infrastructure.

Thank you again for contacting me and expressing your opinion. Please keep me informed of your opinions on this and any other state government issue.

As Always – Idaho, “Esto Perpetua”

this is Idaho legislation at work bro, not U.S....you have mentioned U.S. senators and representatives....they aren't gonna do much. They can give pressure, but they don't have a vote.

here are your Idaho reps (links to the house and senate members)... http://www.legislature.idaho.gov/citizenlegislators.htm

im so fed up with our government here in Idaho! they do not represent the people (are whole government needs restructured!! It has been a complete bureacracy for years, not an entity representing us!) Im fed up with Otter! He wants to raise taxes in a deep recession...you are brilliant! I want true conservatives in office representing the true conservatives of this state!

I will write my Idaho reps for the facking 1000th time!

thanks Wade!

I read:
"BLA BLA, I'm the governor and I will do it my way anyway...but just to keep the complacent public quiet we will "look" at alternatives for funding P&R, not my road agenda".

Nice work, Otter...best of luck in your next election!

oh guess what! this tool didnt want to live in the governor's mansion right? the one Simplot donated....so taxpayers have to fork out 4000 bucks a month to maintain Mr. Otter's ranch! sorry I don't mean to turn this into an Otter bash thread! I am just so at my limit with him!

they tried this stuff last year in MN.

I assume you guys have a percentage of your state gas that is put into a off road type fund? If so this is what MN did try

Luckily it was killed, still you guys need to fight this. If it goes through, then you all should be calling for a check from the state for all the gas money you spend for off road use.

Gotta keep these guys honest.

Here's a story about other states doing the same thing. You won't believe what California pulled off.

Got the same response from Otter. Got one of my Reps to actually talk to me. I'm trying to get info on a task force meeting this summer, to address this issue. Their taking guaranteed money, from gas taxes, and promise to replace it out of general funds. Well, with no one working much these days, guess what will happen to the general fund. Especially, when we have to now compete with prisons and schools and health funding, for attention. We will get forgotten.

If our gas tax is a small percentage of Park and Rec's budget, then put it back, and go dumpster diving somewhere else. This crap pizzes me off.

Support your Idaho State Snowmobile Association. Their one of the few watching out for you. If you aint a member, you aint helping. Idaho State Snowmobile Association

Funny thing, the skiers got their money stolen too. Sad thing, the skiers money that was stolen, was stolen from the snowmobilers. Yha, you heard it right. Skiers use our gas tax money to maintain their park and ski. You didn't think those cheap bastages would actually pay for their own way did you?
