Need a skid that works? Got to try this!!

This skid mod has been shown before, but you should see how it works. Unreal. It is strong, lighter than most OEM skids, rides great, and couples similar to an M-10. It bolts right in to your stock rails, or you can get some aftermarket rails from someone like Ice Age. This is the same Skid that Triple Black (Laird Macdougall) uses to rip around with.

Sorry, it is manufactured and sold by Racers Edge from Dewinton (Calgary). The nice thing about it is that it uses the stock front arm. You only change out the rear scissor and springs. You can see the compression and rebound adjustments...quick and easy. You can also change how quickly it couples with the length of the blocks.

I'm not sure that its a one size fits all proposition, but its an interesting concept. I scoped out their website but didn't find anything listed. Do you have a link by chance? Thanks for posting I'd like to read more about it... :beer;

I'd sure like to try one . How much better is this skid then mt tamer skid at keeping the skis on the ground.

From what I have seen the mnt tamer is kind of one dimensional as it only does one thing ok at a time, and is still kind of weak. Their idea was ok, but they built it too light to be a coupling skid and it creates reliability problems. I don't mean any offense by this, but you might as well call a spade a spade. This skid option is strong and it does everything really well. It will bolt in too almost any factory skid and has huge adjustability.

Cmx

I have seen a few of these on Mark's CMX's (Crazy mountain extreme). Not sure if he is still running them but you see a lot of them on his early 2000ish models. Probably lightest at the time if he was/is running it because mark is all about the lightweight...

it bolts onto all the late model skids out there (stock)
Good to see NM and tripleblack with some actual seat time and to see how well this skid is working. Baker builds some of the best stuff out there. some of you might question the price for what your getting, well you get what you pay for. it flat out works. there are many great options out there, this is just another one that is working it's way to the top for performance.

Might appear the same, but this is a brand new product that only hit the snow this season.

pretty close

guess I have not really looked at the difference's that close. Take a look at the swap meet section, used sleds, misc brands. The yellow, 2002 cmx with the 1085, you can see the skid pretty good. Might not be the suspension mentioned above, but i'd say someone else thinks the concept works good too...

The only reason I'm asking is I have a tnytro with mt tamer with 162 c e .
With a 1/2 inch spacer 200 lbs in the rear shock it stands on the back wheels up to about 60 miles / hr . Sometimes I have to let off to get it to drop. (on flat land)

Not fun hammering on it in the real steep only to have it wheelie on you.

Anyway I am looking at replacing it with either a ez ride or one of these.

2K seems a little steep for an M-10 copy and it is only rear scissor assembly. Can buy a whole M10 with the new air shocks for around 3k.

Here is a pic of triple black coming up Swenson St. with his Racers Edge setup. Enough said. I don't know much about EZ Ride, but I have never seen anyone with one go up the big chutes in Revy, and that goes for mt tamer as well. The way I look at it, is why not get something that you know works.

As far as price Spoon, why spend the extra grand if you don't have to. In my opinion a coilover is better than an air shock anyway. This has more adjustability than an M-10 and takes less time. If you have actually looked at one you would see it's a quality product.

Seems to be nothing but good things being said about this setup. Heard it makes a huge difference in the stock sleds too. Id love to throw one in the old XP but Im gonna agree with a lot of guys on here in saying I think it is overpriced for what you are getting. 2k for two billet brackets, a rear arm and shock?? Come on. Whatever though.....Im not gonna piss and moan about it. Just wont buy one. You'd think he would sell a TONNE of these closer to the $1000 price point. There would still have to be some very healthy profit margins at that price???

Good chit costs Money. That front shock costs me 670.00 Can. from ZBROZ, yes it was tuned for the rider and has progressive rate springs.
But look at the size of the Baker Boys Shock and it has Compression and rebound tuning. My quess is that shock is worth a grand alone.
Thats what life is about -choices and options

Do you guys think Baker would sell just the rear brackets and arm? I have a set of Zbros res shocks in the garage off an 08 m1000 that have about 100 miles on them. Be cool if the C to C were the same and a guy could just use them.

I've been looking at the Exit shocks from Zbros and love what they offer...damn near any double thriple spring rate you want and they will revalve and spring if you dont like it

The mckue boys on the turbo doo run an ez ride. It did seem to wheelie a bit. Noticed it didn't seem to absorbed the bumps as well as an m10. Is also the best ez ride i have seen work.

Need a skid that works? Got to try this!!
