I'm looking for some input on an idea that I came up with for my buddies MTX Nytro. After watching his Maverick fold over like a wet leaf and seeing him get spanked by an M8 out in Wyoming, something had to be done. He decided to go with the Powerclaw but wanted a 162". I told him I'd machine some rail extensions for him and made a few design improvements. I came up with a rail extension that:
1. Incorporates 8" billet wheels.
2. Converts it to a 2 wheel inside the rails set-up.
3. Runs full length Hyfax ( from a 162" Apex )
4. Has externally adjustable track tensioners.
5. Seamless mating with the stock rail.
Here are some pictures of the finished product.
Bare assembly:
Mounted on rails:
Final Installation in seld:
Along the way, I decided to make the 8" wheels for him to the design he wanted and went one more step and machined a couple of 7" wheels for the drop bracket bogey wheels. Other designs could certainly be accomodated as well.
I want to pass along a special thanks to MotoPsych-o for the help that he gave me during the design of this mod.
I'm looking to see if anyone else may be interested in this kit. I run a small ( one man ) machining business and am looking to broaden my horizons. Any input or interest would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
scmurs
